Having a five-week-old baby certainly wasn't easy. Although you absolutely adore her, you often find yourself utterly exhausted. So, when you were able to just collapse onto the couch for what felt like the first time all day, you didn't even plan on moving a finger.
You let your head fall back as you stretched out your legs. You know Taylor will be home any minute and you look forward to spending some time with her.
You closed your eyes, figuring you'd just drift off to sleep for a bit until she got home. You certainly didn't expect the door to open suddenly and slam loudly behind Taylor. It was only an accident considering her hands were full! She had her bag on her shoulder and she had stopped on the way home to pick up your favorite drink from the cafe down the street; the one she knows you absolutely love and really need right now.
But the loud slam of the door, though unintentional, caused those cries to be heard once again. Taylor sighed when she heard the wails. She was just about to put everything in her hands down and offer to comfort your baby girl. But before she even got the chance, you were standing up with a loud groan falling from your lips.
"Thank you, Taylor!" You yelled as you ran up the stairs, obviously frustrated and exhausted.
"Nice going, Taylor." She muttered to herself as she put everything down. She knows you didn't mean to get upset. She knows you love the little family you've built. But she knows you're tired and she felt guilty for having to take that trip to the studio earlier. She wasn't able to help out today and she felt guilty for it.
She raced upstairs and followed the cries coming from your daughter into the little nursery you both made for her. It still takes her breath away every time she enters the room. Your little girl's name was written on the wall. It was fir for a princess; which is exactly what Taylor thought your beautiful little girl was.
You were pacing the room. You shushed softly, trying to get her to calm down, but it didn't seem to be working.
Taylor walked to where you stood. At first, she wrapped her arm around you and let her cheek fall to your shoulder. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to wake her up."
You were about to say something back, but there was no need for you to. She could tell you were about to apologize, and in her eyes, that just wasn't necessary.
"Shh. Don't say anything, beautiful girl. It's alright. I know you're tired and overwhelmed. I don't blame you for snapping at me." She kissed the back of your neck and then walked in front of you. "Let me hold her."
"Are you sure?"
"Am I sure? Y/N, you're exhausted. Go lay down. I got this. I know just what my little girl needs!" She smiled as you handed your little girl over to her. Once she was secure in her arms, she started to sing softly to her as she paced around the room.
You stood in the doorway, about to comply with Taylor's wishes about laying down. But you froze when you heard what she was singing.
"Love you to the moon and to Saturn." She sang quietly, causing your little girls cry to turn into whimpers, and then soft little breaths as she drifted off to sleep.
Your heart swelled with love. You almost didn't want to leave the room! Until Taylor turned to see you still standing there.
"Go to bed, darling. I'll be there in a minute. Please rest."
You nodded and left the room before walking across the hall to your cozy bedroom. You were so relieved when you fell back in bed. You felt so relaxed, so content. You had closed your eyes and started to drift off to sleep. You almost didn't even notice Taylor coming into the bedroom.
That was, until, she kissed your forehead softly when she laid in bed next to you. You opened your eyes and she was looking at you with so much adoration in her big, bright, beautiful eyes.
"She asleep?"
Taylor nodded.
"Out like a light." She confirmed. "Speaking of which," she trailed off as she reached for the switch. Ther room turned dark and she wrapped her arms around you. "I love you. I'm home for the next few days and I want you to rest more."
"But,"
"No but's. I know you adore her, baby girl. We both do. But you're overwhelmed. You deserve some rest."
You let your head fall to her shoulder and with a sigh, you said, "We'll do it together?"
Taylor chuckled and closed her eyes. "Okay. We are a team, after all."
"And a great one at that. Love you. Goodnight, Tay."
"Goodnight, my love. I love you so much more."
