Sitting on the floor with your knees pulled up to your chest, you held the picture of you and your aunt in between your fingers.

You just got the news late last night that she had pulled away and you weren't handling the loss very well. But how could you? Your aunt was like your best friend, creating this space in your heart that no one could replace.

But now that hole felt empty. You felt empty. You didn't know what to do without her.

Taylor stood in the doorway, leaning against the wall with tears in her eyes. Losing your aunt hadn't just affected you, but her as well. She had become close with your aunt during the final year of her life, building a close bond that mostly revolved around the one thing they love most; you. And it hurt her to see you hurting. She couldn't take away your pain.

She slowly walked towards you and sat behind you. She put her hand on your hip, waiting to see if you'd pull away. And when you didn't she pulled you back against her chest and wrapped both her arms around you, just as you began to cry again.

She rested her chin on your shoulder and let a couple of her own tears fall. "It hurts..." you mumbled. She knew it hurt. She knows you're not just aching emotionally, but physically too. The hurt in your heart too much to bear.

"I know, baby." She kissed your shoulder. She had never been so desperate to help someone. "Can I do anything for you? Do you need anything?" You slowly shook your head and just dropped it back against her shoulder.

"I miss her. I hate that I didn't even get to tell her that I loved her, one last time." You sobbed every one that left your lips making Taylor's heart break. "I know you wish that you had that chance, but trust me, she knew."

You turned around and looked at Taylor, your eyes filled with tears and your bottom lip quivering. She had never seen you so upset before and it took everything in her to not fall apart right then and there.

"Really?" Taylor nodded, her thumb coming up to wipe away your tears. "Absolutely. Y/n, she loved you just as much, if not more. Every time we talked you were the topic of the conversation every time. She was so proud of you, always telling me how wonderful you were."

She watched you crack a small smile for the very first time before it turned into a sob. "I know you're hurting but I'm here for you. I'm gonna do everything that I can, get you whatever you need through this time. It's okay to grieve, it's gonna take you a while, and that's okay." She caressed your cheek, her own lips trembling soon enough as you dropped your forehead onto her shoulder.

"I'm gonna be right by your side every step of the way." She promised, arms wrapped around you as you cried softly. "I bet she's looking over you right now." You pulled your head from her shoulder and looked at her with a hint of hope in your eyes.

"You think so?" She nodded again, hand going to rest right over your heart. "I know so because she's always right here." She pointed to your heart and with a shaky sigh, you rested your forehead against hers. "I'm really gonna miss her."

"I know. I will too. But we'll get through this. Time will help us heal." She stroked your shoulder, sniffling as she gazed into your watery eyes. "I love you, Tay. Thank you for being by my side through this."

Taylor shook her head. "Don't thank me for that. I'm always gonna be here for you. I love you so much," she kissed your forehead, lips lingering there as she closed her eyes for a second before gently pushing the back of your head down on her chest.

She knew it'd take some time for you both to get through this, but she was gonna be there every second with you, no matter what.
