slow dancing in the rain

The rain had washed away your previous plans with Taylor. Your day at the beach had been ruined by unexpected rainfall and a possible storm.

You were a little bummed about it, but Taylor had promised you that you'd go tomorrow instead. She had gotten caught up in writing music in her music room upstairs, so you decided to go out for some fresh air.

You sat on the porch with your book in your hand. You could smell the rain, something about that and the sound of it against the roof made you feel at peace.

"There you are!" Taylor grinned as she walked outside and sat down next to you. Her head fell to your shoulder and you bookmarked your page to continue reading your story later on before you set it down.

"Watching the rain?"

You simply nodded in response. "I like it. Even though I don't really like storms and I was a little sad that our day got ruined, something about sitting out here as it rains with a good book in my hands and you by my side makes up for it.

Taylor giggled then kissed your cheek.

"Weren't you writing music?"

She nodded and then gazed at you while moving some hair back from your face. "Yeah, but I noticed that you weren't there so I stopped and went to look for you."

It was quiet for a few seconds; nothing but the sound of the rain around you, until you spoke up. "Taylor?"

She hummed in response.

"We've had our kiss in the rain a few times, but there's something else I wanna do."

She raised her eyebrow but when you stood up and grabbed her hand she didn't hesitate to let you lead her wherever you wanted to go. You were soon standing under the grey sky together and as Taylor's clothes became soaked quite quickly, she couldn't help but wonder what your plan was.

"What are we doing?" She wondered.

"This." You responded by taking her hands and moving them to your hips. You laid your head against her chest and started to sway. Taylor followed your lead. Neither of you cared about the fact that your shoes and clothes were soaking wet or the stares you could get from your neighbors nearby; you were just enjoying slow dancing in the rain together.

And just when you thought that the moment couldn't get any more perfect, Taylor started to sing 'lover' softly in your ear. One of her hands moved from your hips and up your back and you felt her lips brush against your head.

"This couldn't be more perfect. I've always dreamt of doing this and I'm so happy that I get to do it with you." You said as you tilted your head and looked up at her.

"Me too, baby girl. I love you."

You repeated the words back to her and kissed her for a moment, then laid your head back on her shoulder. As her arms moved to wrap around you, you heard her sing; "And I don't know why but with you I'd dance in a storm in my best dress, fearless."

You cracked a smile. You could hear her heart beating, and all you could think to yourself at that moment was how you wished the moment would never end and how in love with her you were.
