Taylor huffed when your phone went straight to voicemail yet again. Each time she'd look at the clock on the wall only to see that more time has gone by without anything from you to tell her everything was alright it made her anxiety grow.
She couldn't help it. You're forty minutes late and usually, if you're running late you let her know. She has a tendency to worry about you, and understandably so. She tugged at her hair and took a seat on the couch. She set her phone down and watched it, hoping it would light up soon. That she'd hear your voice and all her nerves would just disappear.
She distracted herself by picking at the polish on her nails and when her heart didn't seem to slow down she turned on the tv, trying to distract herself as time continued to drag by. She flipped through the channels and eventually landed on the news. Normally, she'd keep looking as the news brings you both down sometimes. But something caught her eye before she could change the channel.
She listened closely as the reporter showed the damage that had been done due to an accident that had occurred just twenty minutes ago. But it was the name of the street that caused her heart to sink in her chest.
She turned the volume up because all she could really hear was her heart pounding in her ears. A pedestrian was hit, a young woman... on the street you always take to walk home. She could hardly see over the blur of her tears.
She feared the worst. She couldn't help but fear that the reason why you weren't answering and the reason why you were late was that it had been you involved in the accident.
She didn't wanna hear another word. She was tired of the reporter stating the fact that they couldn't give out details about the accident when she needed details. She needed to know if you were okay!
She threw on her shoes and despite the cold air outside she didn't even worry about her jacket; it was the least of her concerns.
She felt her heeart hammering in her chest. Her brain swirled with thoughts and worries. She was halfway out the door with her keys in her hand. Just about to close it and run to the car and drive down to where everything had taken place, but she bumped into someone before she could.
She bumped into you.
"Y/N!" She pulled you into her arms and held you tight. "Oh I was so worried about you! I thought that..." she trailed off, her voice cracking as she blinked away her tears. "I saw what happened and you were running late and,"
"My phone died! I heard what happened. I was just around the corner when it happened. I'm sorry I wasn't home sooner but I was just scared,"
"Shh." She interrupted as she pressed her forehead against yours. Her teary eyes locked with your tired ones. "It's okay. Don't worry about it, baby girl. I'm just happy you're okay." She kissed your forehead softly. "I thought you were hurt. I'm so thankful you're alright. I love you so much."
You pecked her lips softly then pulled away to drop your forehead on her shoulder. "Can we go cuddle, please? I really don't want you to let me go right now."
"I won't. I'm not gonna let you go. C'mon, let's go inside. I've got you now." She smiled softly and wrapped her arm around your waist to lead you inside the house.
Her heart was beginning to beat normally again. Her mind was more at ease, the only thing she could seem to think about now was how grateful she was that you were back in her arms, safe and sound.
