You sat on the floor with Carter, trying to keep him occupied while Taylor does an interview with rolling stone.

To make things a little easier they came to the house, but that, unfortunately, meant Carter wanting to be with Taylor every moment possible. He's too young to understand how important this interview is so you're just trying to find little things to keep his attention elsewhere until the interview is done.

But he wasn't happy. You put his toy trucks down on the floor but he kept pushing them away. "Buddy, come on. Don't you wanna spend some time with me?" He smiled at you a little but shrugged his shoulders. You didn't take it personally. You know he's attached to Taylor, and some days more than others he does tend to cling to her a bit more.

You turned on his favorite cartoon and, thankfully, it did occupy him. But only for a couple of minutes. He crawled onto your lap. He could hear Taylor's voice and he was trying to look around the room for her. He frowned when he realized she was in another room.

"Carter, buddy, she'll be done in just a few." Carter looked up at you before looking at the table. He crawled over, grabbing the picture frame that held a picture of you and Taylor on one of your first vacations together. "Whatcha got there?" You asked playfully, making sure you tickled his side as you sat down next to him. "That is one of my favorite photos of us. It was one of our first vacations together, a few months after we started dating. You were so small then, way too young to tag along so we couldn't bring you with us." You ran your fingers through his hair and smiled down at him.

He looked at you with bright and curious eyes. He got up and ran out of the room quickly, a question on his mind that he was too excited to wait to ask. He followed Taylor's voice and ran to the room where she was. Everyone in the room paused to look at him.

Taylor bent down and picked him up. Shyly, he buried his face in her neck. "What are you doing here? Weren't you spending time with your mom?" Taylor could feel his small smile against her skin, the little giggle she loves so much leaving his lips when she tickled his sides.

"Wanna be with you," he said, looping his arms around her neck just as you ran in the room. "I'm so sorry. He ran out so quickly I couldn't grab him in time." Taylor kissed his head as everyone in the room admired the sight that Taylor was so hesitant to ever let the world see. "It's alright."

You rubbed Carter's back, your heart-melting at his smile. "He saw the picture of us on vacation. I think he might have a little question for you." You kissed his head before walking out of the room to give everyone some space.

"Do you have a question?" She asked and watched Carter nod his head against her shoulder. "Okay, ask me, buddy." She rubbed his back and noticed his eyes starting to grow a little heavier. "Can we go somewhere?" She looked at him a little confused. "You mean like on a vacation?" He nodded and Taylor realized then that he wanted to take a vacation with you and her. "Oh, I see. You wanna take a trip, huh? Just the three of us?" He nodded and closed his eyes. "Okay. We can do that." Taylor promised and saw a smile appear on his face before he started to fall asleep on her shoulder.

She looked back up to see the interviewer and a couple of other people in the room, staring at Carter and smiling at how sweet the sight was. "Oh, I'm so sorry." They all shook their heads. "No problem at all. He's adorable. It was sweet to see such a rare and adorable sight." Taylor glanced back at Carter who was now sound asleep, his lips slightly parted and his arms still around her neck.

She finished the rest of the interview just like that; with him on her shoulder, sleeping peacefully. She didn't allow any pictures since he's still so little and she isn't willing to let many people see those rare and intimate moments quite yet.

But they all felt lucky to have witnessed such a heartwarming sight. And Taylor was just happy to be able to hold him close to her as she thought about all the places she'd take you both for a fun family trip.
