I got inspired while listening to I love you by Billie Eilish and whipped this little angst filled chapter up. I'm open to a part two if anyone wants it.

Taylor chewed at her bottom lip as she tried to ignore the ache in her heart as you sat next to her.

You look beautiful, as you always do. Taylor keeps trying to rid herself of the feelings she has for you. You met a few months ago after you had gotten out of a really rocky relationship. You weren't up for dating. You've made that clear, although Taylor has never told you about how she feels about you. She just couldn't bring herself to.

But it left her with an ache in her heart. She's tried to write about it, telling herself that it would help her heal but she only ever ends up writing songs about love for you. She knows she stands no chance, but seeing you every day only makes it worse and it feels like it's eating her up inside.

She heard you laugh over something funny that happened in the movie. She desperately wanted to reach out for you and pull you in her arms and hold you close as your fingers intertwined and your heart's beat in sync. But she'd never get that. And the feeling of despair watched over her and she felt like she couldn't breathe.

She got up and walked up to her room. You frowned as you watched her run up the stairs. You thought she was sick or hurt, so you turned the movie off and chased after her.

you saw her sitting on the bed with her head in her hands. You sat down next to her and went to put your hand on her back, but you didn't because you heard her protest. "No. Don't." You frowned again. Something was really wrong.

"Taylor? What's going on? Are you okay?" She sighed and looked at you with red and puffy eyes. She shook her head and bit her lip hard enough to draw blood. You ran your thumb across it so she'd release it but it only made her wish that was something you could always do for her.

"I've never seen you cry. Are you okay? You can tell me what's wrong." She sniffled and looked down at her fingers in her lap. "No, I can't. There's no point." You bit the inside of her cheek, trying to figure out what was going on. But you couldn't tell.

"Tell me. I'm sure we can try to figure it out. Are you sick? Are you hurting-" "I love you." She bit her lip when she blurted it out. You let out a nervous chuckle. "What? You're not serious, right?" She was silent. "Taylor please tell me you're just joking. You're just trying to make me laugh, right?" She shook her head.

"Oh my god..." You whispered and put your head in your hands. You heard her start to cry and that tugged at the strings of your heart, sending a wave of pain through you that you've never felt before. You've never been so heartbroken to hear and see someone cry. "Taylor..." "You should go." She whispered, secretly hoping you'd tell her no.

"I didn't mean to make you cry." She stood up and walked downstairs and you quickly chased after her. "Taylor." She turned to look at you. You saw her bottom lip trembling and you felt that pain in your heart again. She was upset. She needed space and you needed to think. You needed to step back and figure out why you were hurting so badly just from seeing her so upset.

"I'll call you later." You said quietly. Taylor nodded and went over to her couch. She pulled Benjamin onto her lap and held him to her chest. You felt an urge to go hold her, to pull her in your arms and keep her safe and warm. Where was this feeling coming from?

You held back your own tears and walked out the door. As soon as it closed you could hear Taylor sob and you put your hand on the knob to go back inside. But you couldn't.

You put your best foot forward and walked home alone, scared that things might be ruined between the two of you for good.
