The movie you and Taylor were watching while curled up on the couch together was interrupted by the sound of your ringtone. While you reached for your phone, Taylor reached for the remote to pause the movie to give you some quiet while you talked.
"Who is it?" She asked curiously.
"My manager."
You answered the call and pressed your phone to your ear. "Hey, what's-"
Your question was cut off by excited rambling from your manager. Taylor watched curiously as your expression changed from confused to pure joy. A loud gasp fell from your lips and you looked over at Taylor with tears in your eyes. "Thank you so much!" You ended the call and jumped straight into Taylor's arms.
"Whoa! Something's got you excited." She joked and laughed a little when you just squealed excitedly. "I got asked to sing the national anthem at the super bowl!" Taylor's eyes went wider than you've ever seen before. She hugged you tightly and cheered with you. "Baby girl, that is amazing!"
"You're gonna be there, right?"
She caressed your cheek softly. "Honey, of course I will. I'll be right there cheering you on. I'm so happy for you! Seriously, this is incredible." You cuddled up close to her and spent the rest of the evening excitedly talking about what the night would hold.
And true to her word, just a couple of weeks later, she was right there by your side. You were taking a few deep breaths, singing the anthem over and over again to yourself to make sure you had every word memorized. Taylor rubbed your shoulders. You were nervous and she understood why.
"Hey." She whispered and wrapped her arms around you from behind. "I know you're nervous. I know this is a scary thing and there's a lot of pressure, but you're gonna do wonderfully. I believe in you! I know you can do it, baby."
You exhaled heavily before turning to look at her. "I don't think I could do it without you here." Taylor just flashed you a small smile and caressed your cheek. "I told you I'd be here, didn't I? I've never let you down before and I've never lied to you, which is why I'm gonna tell you again that I know you can do it. You're amazing. You have the most beautiful voice and I'm gonna be right here cheering you on!"
"And us too," Ellen said as she and Portia made their way over to you.
"See? You have a wonderful support system. We all know you can do it." Taylor said and leaned in to give you a kiss, only for a stagehand to come just at that moment.
"Y/n? Are you ready? It's time for you to go out."
You looked at Taylor with wide eyes but she just squeezed your hand comfortingly. "You've got this." She pecked your lips a few times and let go of your hand, watching as you went down the stands.
She watched as you grabbed the mic and took your place on the mark where you had to stand. Your name was called overhead and you took one last deep breath before you began to sing each word so graciously.
It was quick, over before you knew it. You were in disbelief and awe over the teams and fans in the stands that went wild and cheered loudly for you. But no one was cheering as loudly for you as Taylor was, and you found that out as you went back to where she was waiting for you.
You ran right into her arms and she hugged you so tightly it was hard to breathe. "I told you, baby! I knew you could do it!" You looked up at her with tears of happiness shining in your eyes. "Oh, baby girl." She cooed as her own tears of pride filled her eyes.
"You make me so proud." She whispered into your ear.
"I love you, Tay."
She giggled and gave you a soft kiss on your lips. "Not nearly as much as I love you." She leaned in for another kiss but Portia cleared her throat, causing you to pull back just as your lips touched.
"You did so great, y/n!"
She enveloped you in a hug and Ellen soon did the same. "You're gonna be the talk of the town tomorrow." She joked as she pulled back, letting you go right back into your girlfriend's arms.
"Hell yeah, she will be. And it's only gonna go up from here."
You looped your arms around her neck and pushed your lips against hers, loving the way they moved against yours so passionately. "So? Should we go celebrate? Food is on me!" Taylor grinned, putting her arm around you as you walked out of the building.
Things would only get better from here and there's no one you'd rather celebrate every moment with than Taylor.
