You could hear your phone ring once again as you laid on the bathroom floor. You've been up and down all night feeling sick to your stomach. You barely slept and the only thing you wanted to do today was lay in bed under your blankets.
You stood up on shaky knees and went back to bed. You heard your phone chime so you reached for it on your nightstand and you saw that it was Taylor.
You've been dating for a few weeks now, only just recently becoming more than friends. And you totally forgot that you're supposed to meet her for lunch today.
She texted you good morning and to see how you were doing. You felt bad having to tell her you wouldn't be able to make the date, especially since you're so early in your relationship. But you knew there was no way you'd be able to leave your bed.
You quickly typed out an apology and asked if you could do it in a few days when you felt better. You put your phone under your pillow and soon fell asleep, too sick and too tired to care about anything else.
You woke up to a hand stroking your back just a little while later. You jumped at first but when you heard Taylor's voice you relaxed. "Shh, I'm sorry. It's just me." She whispered and tried to ignore how worried she felt when she realized how sweaty your skin was.
"Taylor? What are you doing here?" Your throat was dry so your voice was scratchy. "I'm here to take care of you." You shook your head and slowly rolled over to face her. "No. I'm sick, you can't be here." She chuckled and kissed your warm forehead. "Don't be silly. I'm your girlfriend and I'm gonna take care of you. Okay?" You weakly nodded your head and Taylor cracked a small smile at you.
"Good. I got you a few things on my way over here." You heard her hand rummaging through a plastic bag before she began to pull a few things out of it. "I grabbed you some soup. I wasn't sure what kind you like the most but I can always go back and get a different kind for you. I also got you a new blanket. It's fuzzy and soft, I figured it'd keep you warm. And I got you some Gatorade, too. A few different kinds. You can pick and choose with them."
You brushed your thumb across her hand. Even though you felt sick and very weak, you couldn't help but smile at how sweet she is. "This is all so sweet. Thank you." You started to shiver and Taylor immediately placed the new blanket over you. You sighed at how fluffy it felt, all warm and cozy over your cold and clammy skin.
"You're the sweetest. How'd I get so lucky?" She planted a kiss to your forehead. "Need anything else? Some soup or anything?" You shook your head and patted the space next to you. "Just lay with me? Hold me."
She didn't hesitate, as soon as you said that she laid down next to you and rubbed your back. "You feeling okay? Are you feeling sick? Should I grab you a bucket?" You chuckled as she worryingly rattled off question after question. "No, I'm okay. I have a trash can on the floor. I'll be alright. I just want you to hold me for a while."
She wrapped her arms around you and let you roll over and rest your head on her shoulder. She made sure her grip on you wasn't tight. "Go to sleep, darling. I'm here if you need anything." She whispered and held you close in her arms as you fell asleep in her arms for the very first time.
