You slammed your car door closed and rested your head on the wheel for a moment as you tried to catch your breath and swallow the lump in your throat that's been there for most of the day.
Your day was terrible. It feels as though nothing has gone right since you walked out the door early this morning. The only thing that's made you feel any better today is the thought of the day finally ending and getting to go home to Taylor.
You were about to start your car and head home, but you wanted to hear her voice before you did so; feeling as though you couldn't handle even another minute without her.
You scrolled through your contacts until you saw her name and you pressed your phone to your ear. Each ring was more frustrating than the last and it didn't seem to stop. You pulled it away, thinking you'd just hang up and wait till you got home where you'd be able to run into her arms. It was only thirty minutes.
But you heard her voice just before you were about to end the call. You hurriedly pressed it back to your ear and said, "Tay?"
"Hey, darling! How are you?"
"Not good." You whispered sadly and squeezed your eyes shut so you wouldn't shed any tears. "I'm about to head home, I just wanted to hear your voice. I had a rough day."
"Oh, honey, I'm sorry to hear that."
"You're home, right? Because I really need you..."
"About that," she paused. "I'm still at the studio."
You frowned and lowered your head. "Oh. Okay. I'll just wait for you then. Love you, Tay."
You hung up despite her protests, knowing that your heart would only ache more if you didn't. You put your car in drive and started to head home. You focused on the road and turned on some good music that you hoped would clear your head until you pulled into the driveway almost forty minutes later.
You dragged your feet as you walked through the door. The house was quiet, the only sound being that of the paws on the floor as the cats ran through the house playfully.
You kicked off your shoes and headed up the stairs to your shared room. You planned on crawling into bed and maybe getting some much-needed shut-eye till Taylor would arrive home, or maybe take a long hot shower to clear your head.
But when you reached the bedroom, you were surprised to see Taylor sat on the bed. Her head lifted at the sound of your feet on the floor. She had a beautiful rose on her lap and her eyes were just as beautiful when they met yours.
"Hey, baby." She whispered and wasted no time in bringing you right into her arms. "Are you okay?" She asked worriedly. "I'm sorry your day was bad but I'm with you now and I'll make it better."
You smiled and laid your cheek on your shoulder. "I didn't expect you to be home. You said you were in the studio,"
"And then you called and said you needed me." She interrupted and moved so you'd lift your head. "Y/n, I've told you already that I love and care about you the most. You need me and I'm here now." She assured as she tucked a strand of hair behind your ear. "You're my girl. I need to make sure that you're okay."
"I'm okay now that I've got you."
She smiled and kissed you softly before she took your hand and led you to the bed. "So I got you this rose." She handed it to you happily, her eyes sparkling as she placed it in your hand. "And I ran you a warm bath and I've ordered takeout which should be here within the next thirty minutes so it should give you enough time to relax."
"Us."
She raised her brow and you chuckled, repeating the word but with even more emphasis on it this time.
"Us. Tay, I need you. You're taking that bath with me."
"Okay." She grinned and kissed your cheek lovingly. She grabbed her phone and set an alarm to go off before the food would arrive before taking hold of your hand again and leading you to the bathroom.
The water relaxed you, along with the feeling of Taylor kissing your neck and shoulders and the feeling of her nails lightly brushing along your skin as they moved along your back gently.
"Feeling better, beautiful girl?" She asked, kissing your shoulder lovingly once more.
"Yeah. Lots." You replied as you put your head back on her shoulder and melted into her arms around you. "Thanks for everything."
"We still have lots of time left tonight. I've got plans for us. From movies to some board games,"
"You mean scrabble?"
She laughed in your ear, kissing the shell of it softly before nodding.
"Is that okay?"
"I'm okay with anything, babe. Just as long as you don't let me go for the night." You whispered and closed your eyes as your terrible day faded from your mind.
"I won't let you go. I promise, baby girl."
