You sighed and walked through the hallway of your high school. You dropped your books and fell on the ground when a group of girls bumped into you. You picked everything up with tears in your eyes as students in the hallway laughed making you feel even more embarrassed than you already felt before.
You ran down the hall and to your next class wanting to get to a safe place away from everyone. "You okay, y/n?" Your teacher asked as you ran into the room. You nodded your head and took a seat along with a few deep breaths. You felt much safer now.
But the days dragged on, as they always seemed to. Each one of them more painful than the last. Each one consisting of mocking, pushing you down whenever they saw you, constant name-calling, and making you feel completely worthless.
You lost your friends and spent most of your days studying harder and harder, doing whatever you could to get out of there as quickly as you could.
Your high school life consisted of bullying while you tried to find your own place in the world.
But high school ended and you made a life for yourself.
You followed your dreams and moved to New York City where you went to university. you were determined to make your dreams come to true, no matter what.
You saw the billboards in times square of the girl who came out on top, despite being part of the group that bullied you growing up.
Taylor.
You could see her billboard everywhere for her album that just released. Even though you couldn't exactly forget what that group of girls said and did to you, Taylor wasn't the big part of the problem and you were willing to give her album a listen.
It was incredible, you had to admit. You had it playing in your headphones as you walked down the street to your favorite bakery. You ordered your usual and took a seat in the corner of the shop while you listened to I know places, what seemed to be your favorite from the album so far.
"Y/n?" The music was turned down just enough to where you could hear your name being called. You looked up and saw someone you never imagined you'd see again - Taylor. "Whoa. It's been so long." She said as she took a seat across from you. "You remember me?" Taylor chuckled. "I've never forgotten about you."
"You know they were all jealous of you?" You raised your eyebrow at her. "That's why we all picked on you. Because we were jealous." You rolled your eyes but Taylor reached across the table to hold your hand. "I'm serious." She whispered and pulled her hand away.
"You're smart. You've always been smart. And I guess we couldn't help but be jealous of that. You were at the top of every class, the teachers adored you because you always worked hard and had a passion for learning. I guess, deep down, we always knew you'd succeed and make it somehow and we were scared that we wouldn't."
Thinking back to your high school days always made you feel uncomfortable and sad. It was a painful time for you, but thinking back to it now kinda brought a smile to your face. It was nice to hear her apologize for the pain she and her group of friends brought upon you, it made you remember the good times you had.
You sat there in a state of both shock and awe. Taylor was nothing like you remembered her being.
And as the day went on and you spent more time with her you got to know her better. But you still felt suspicious. You didn't know her intentions and part of you feared she could still be in contact with the other girls. You didn't wanna take any chances.
And the flame quickly burned out.
You quickly started to spend a lot of time together. She showed you around all of her favorite spots in the city, and things grew from there.
