Taylor read the headline with tears in her eyes. It's not the first of the ones she's read that seem to be pointing out and criticizing her weight, but it was just as hurtful as the rest.
She hasn't really had time to go to the beach lately. so when she had some free time you decided to surprise her with a short trip there, to one you knew many people wouldn't be at and would allow you to have some time to really enjoy the water and being with each other.
And it was great. You got to spend a few hours there with her. Not many people approached either of you which was refreshing. Just like you and Taylor, they just wanted a day at the beach.
But your joy that day was replaced with sadness and shame. At least, for Taylor, it was.
She knows better than to read the articles and the nasty words that people spew out at her. She doesn't do it often, she's gotten better at being able to ignore what people say and think of her. But this was different. This is one of her biggest insecurities that they're pointing out and she feels even more ashamed of her weight than before.
She got so caught up in her own tears and sniffles that she didn't even hear you come inside the room. You saw her sitting on the bed crying and right away you ran to her, wanting to just hold her close and rid her of any worries she has.
"Tay? What's wrong?" You sat down beside her on the bed and wrapped her up in your arms. She put her head on your chest and started to cry.
The phone slid out of her fingertips and fell onto your lap. You took one look at the revolting headline that only pointed out her fears and insecurities before you locked it and tossed it near the pillows of the bed. "Taylor, it's not true. None of what they say is true."
You could feel her tears on your skin. Her sobs were becoming more whimpers than anything else, but it still broke your heart. "You're perfect just the way you are. You are so much more than what they see. I get to see a side of you that no one else is lucky enough to and I think that every single piece and inch of you is beautiful."
You lifted her head up, cupping her tear-stained cheeks in your hands. You brushed your thumb across them and kissed her tears away. "You're beautiful. You only get more perfect to me every day." She smiled as you kissed her forehead. "I love you just the way you are."
She put her head on your shoulder and smiled. "I love you too. I don't know what I'd ever do without you. Thank you."
