The sound of your phone chiming distracted you from the show you've been binge-watching since early this morning with your best friend, Kendall.

You lit up when you saw it was Taylor and that she wanted to facetime. Despite having broken up two years ago, you've remained on good terms and talk almost every day. But it's getting a little harder these days. Your feelings for Taylor have never faded and it's hard to pretend like you're over her when you're not.

Regardless, you paused the show and answered the call. Your heart skipped a beat when you saw Taylor's bright smile on the screen. "Hey! How have you been doing?"

"Hi, Taylor. I've been good. How about you?"

"Me too. Hey, can I run something by you? I had an idea for a song but I wanted your opinion on it."

You nodded and watched her prop her phone up against a pillow before she pulled her guitar onto her lap and started to play the new song she had written. Your smile faded away a little as she started to sing about a girl, one she was clearly head over heels for, judging by the song she wrote for her.

You felt Kendall put her hand on your shoulder and you leaned your head back to look at her. "You okay?" She whispered, voice quiet because Taylor was still playing. You tried to keep it together but put your phone on a pillow by your feet where your face was out of view from Taylor.

"Why don't you just tell her that you're still in love with her?" You heard Taylor singing still, so you figured she couldn't hear either of you. "Do you hear her, Kendall? Clearly she's moved on. I missed my chance." You bit the inside of your cheek and focused on Kendall rubbing your back.

And that's when it hit you.

It was quiet. Taylor had stopped playing, stopped singing. You figured the song was over so you took a deep breath to hold back your tears and put on your best fake smile before reaching for your phone again.

And when you saw Taylor on the screen you saw her smiling widely at you. She had tears in her eyes and you could hear her breathing shakily. "Taylor? Are you okay?" You asked, genuinely concerned.

"Are you serious, y/n?" You furrowed your eyebrows and sat up straight. "What are you talking about?"

"I heard Kendall. Y/n I heard everything. You're still in love with me?" You looked back at Kendall and watched her leave the room to give you and Taylor some privacy.

You swallowed thickly, blinking back your tears. "Tay, it doesn't matter. Clearly you've found someone else." You started to play with the sleeve of your sweatshirt, looking anywhere but at the screen at Taylor.

But the sound of her chuckling made you freeze.
"Y/n, that's a song I wrote for you."

Your heart was beating so fast you could hear it in your ears. "I wrote it for you back when we were still together but I was never gonna tell you that because I thought you were over me."

"I could never be over you. Getting over you is impossible. I still think about you every day. I miss you..." A tear streamed down your cheek but you quickly wiped it away.

"I miss you too." She closed her eyes and took a deep breath before opening them again. "I'm sorry I let the distance get between us. I won't let that happen again. If you wanna try again, that is."

She was trying not to get her hopes up, but it was impossible with everything out in the open now. "I'd love that. Do you wanna meet up for lunch or something?"

"Absolutely." She said with the biggest smile on her face and soon, the corners of your lips were tugging up, causing you to smile just as wide.

You heard Kendall cheer in the background and you and Taylor both laughed. "See you tomorrow... beautiful girl." Taylor winked, the old nickname resurfacing. And just like before, it made your cheeks go red.

"See you tomorrow, Tay."

The facetime call ended and Kendall was pulling you in for a huge hug when it was over.

Finally. You finally have your girl back.
