Chapter 13

Matt's POV: As I made my way out to the common room, I sighed when I saw all the guys trying to grab slices of pizza. I was also worried that my mom was going to get overwhelmed. "Gentlemen!" They then all turned to look at me, scared. "Sorry Chief." I then walked over to the kitchen and smiled. "That is not how we treat my mother." I then walked up next to her and wrapped my arm around her. "Hi mom." I then went to kiss her cheek softly. "Thought you might want some food to celebrate becoming Chief." I smiled when she said that and nodded.

"Oh and I have a delivery from Matteo." I then was confused when she gave me a drawing. It said 'Congratulations Chief Papa Casey' I smiled when she gave me that. "Mom, you staying to eat? I would love to have a meal with you before tonight. Oh and please tell me you got some for Gabby too." My mom nodded. "Believe me Matt, I got some for her. That wife of yours is supermom." I smiled and agreed as I went to get the plates. I then went to grab a slice when Mouch was about to grab a slice. I then slapped his hand. "My mother, my first slice."

Mouch nodded and agreed as I went to grab some slices. "Grab your slice mom and then we can go sit down." I then went to grab some waters for us. That's when I remembered that I had my chair there. "Capp, you better get out of that chair you are sitting in. That's my chair again." He then looked at me. "Seriously Matt?" I nodded. "Yes, that was always me and Gabby's spots. Me at the end of the table and her next to me by the door. However, my mom gets the good chair today considering she is the best mom in the world." I then went to kiss her cheek softly.

My mom smiled and blushed when I said that before going to sit down. "Mom just stay for a while. We can catch up after some time in Puerto Rico." Cruz then walked over to the table, sitting across from me when I mentioned Puerto Rico. "Think you can share some stories from yours' and Gabby's time in Puerto Rico?" My mom liked the sound of that. "Please, I want some from your point of view." I nodded and agreed. "I taught Gabby how to surf while we were there. Let's just say that it was not the right time. Don't teach your wife to surf while pregnant." 

Severide then stared at me. "You didn't let her fall in did you?" I sighed. "I was scared out of my mind when that happened. I mean, my wife fell into the water. And not only was she under the water with me worried out of my mind, so was our unborn child. Well, his name is Wally now. At the time, he was just Baby C." Severide then looked at me as he went to sit in front of me. "Yeah, I remember that photoshoot. It was a great idea. And I was shocked. Baby C as in 3 and Casey." I smiled and agreed. "We thought it was cute. I loved the idea of the photoshoot."

Gallo then looked at me and smiled. "So, how about you tell us how it is with 3 kids Chief? We all know how it was with 1 kid. We saw you did it great. But, we've never seen you and Gabby with 3 kids." I smiled when he asked me that. "Let's just say it's interesting. Especially when Matteo is now running around the house. I barely get time to relax when I am exhausted at times. But Gabby has been just as exhausted recently. Heck, I am wondering whether to even wake her up in the morning. Unfortunately, she has to feed Wally and Ella. She's breastfeeding them both."

My mom then looked at me. "She's talking about possibly starting to pump more though so that you can feed the kids when you are home. She wants you to bond with them whenever you can." I nodded and agreed. "You going to come over tomorrow mom? I mean, we already have my mother-in-law there but...I am okay with it. She helps with teaching the kids about their Hispanic heritage." Cruz smiled when I said that. 

"That's probably never something you imagined you'd say eh Matt? Your kid's Hispanic heritage?" I just stared at him. "Why wouldn't I have ever not thought about that. I mean, Gabby is my one and only." Cruz nodded and agreed. "Of course, sorry Chief." I nodded and agreed when I decided that I didn't really like the chief stuff. "Okay listen. Can we just all agreed that in here I am Matt or Casey? I get I am the firehouse chief now but...c'mon guys, most of us have been friends for almost 20 years. It's Matt. Please!"

We all agreed and nodded when I said that. "Now, let's get back to eating." I smiled as I went to take a bite of my food when I got a text from Gabby. 'Putting Wally to bed in 20, Ella in 30 and Matteo in an hour. FaceTime in 10 to say goodnight?' I agreed and texted back. 'Sure thing, want my mom to come home and help you?' Gabby texted back pretty quickly. 'No, my mom is here. Tell her she can go home after. Stella is staying the night.' I agreed and texted back. 'Talk soon.'

I then looked at my mom. "Hey mom, Gabby says you can head home for the night. And guys, I am going to leave the room in 10 to hit the sack. I have to say goodnight to the kids. So, do not disturb please." Severide then looked at me. "I'll do the same." I agreed and smiled at him as we all went to eat our suppers that night. I didn't take too much time because I wanted to see my kids.
