Matt's POV: As we arrived at the firehouse, I could tell Gabby was excited about that. "Okay, that was cool. The autopilot was a little fun but, I have to get used to that." I nodded and agreed. "You remember how I showed you to plug it in at home? In the garage?" Gabby nodded. "By the way, we should park this in there each night." I nodded. "Yeah, we should." Gabby then went to get out before going to grab the charging chord. She then went to plug it in and smiled. "I swear, this thing is so cool. And this is me, obsessing over a car." I laughed when she said that before going to walk over to the trunk. Taking out the stroller, I then went to open it.
Gabby then walked up to me and wrapped her arm around me. "Sorry I doubted whether it would be enough for us at first." I nodded and agreed as I went to wrap my arm around her, kissing her softly. "We are on duty now." I then went to grab my laptop and put it over my shoulder before grabbing our overnight bags. "Can you grab the pump?" Gabby nodded as she went to grab her breast pump before walking over to grab Ella from the back. I then did the same with Wally. We then both proceeded to put them in the stroller and smiled at them. "We did good, they are very cute. Is it possible they are cuter than Matteo?"
Gabby laughed and smiled at me before rubbing my back. "Let's head inside." I nodded and agreed. "I already have some cribs in my office. I bought some and left them here. I never know when we are going to come." Gabby nodded and smiled when I said that when we saw Hermann and Lee Henry walk up to the door. "Here, how about I get that for you guys?" I smiled and nodded. "How are you Hermann and Coffin?" Lee Henry smiled at me. "My instructor called and said I could start my candidacy early. Is that true?" I nodded and smiled at him. "You can do more stuff. Only stuff you've learned at school." Hermann agreed. "What did Cindy say?"
Hermann smiled as we all walked in. "She agreed. But, he has to be on Squad since he is doing the squad program." That's when I heard Severide. "What's this about Squad?" I then smiled at him. "Lee Henry has been cleared to start his training. He has achieved a point in the semester where his grades are high enough to pass. You can start training him. But, take it slow." Severide smiled and agreed. "Sounds great. However Hermann, you are not to say anything about how I train my candidate. Go put your stuff in your dad's office and then report to the floor. You are to stay on my hip." Lee Henry agreed as he walked away. "Do I get a locker yet?"
I then smiled. "Just use your dad's office. Oh and Severide, you are only training him here. I am not ready to send him into fires until he has actually graduated. You train him in the firehouse. When we are at fire scenes, he rides with you to get used to jumping into your truck. However, he is on water duty only." I then turned to look at Lee Henry. "Sorry Lee Henry but, you have to do it on my terms okay? You have a longer time as Candidate. Normally it's just a year but, you have 17 months. So, you are not going into fires until I say you are ready. Understood?" Lee Henry nodded and agreed. "However, you will get closer to the flames. Each week, you will go further and further. Severide, I am sorry but...until he is going in, he's my candidate."
Severide nodded and agreed. "Understood. However, I train him right?" I nodded. "You okay with that?" Severide smiled. "Hey, it's your house now." We all nodded and agreed. "Now, where is your wife? I want to introduce her to Stephen's babysitter. I mean, if you are okay with that Gabby." Gabby smiled and nodded. "Listen, let's get unpacked and then you guys can work with Lee Henry while I have interaction with people other than family for once." I laughed and agreed as we walked into the firehouse together to get her set up with the kids.
