Chapter 73

Matt's POV: After getting dressed, I smiled as I made my way down to Matteo's room to see him in his underwear. I laughed as he was looking for some clothes. "Your mom taught you how to get undressed but not dressed didn't she bud?" Matteo then turned to look at me. "Help?" I smiled and agreed as I walked in before going to find him some clothes. "So listen, daddy is going to work today. But, he has a surprise for you." Matteo then looked at me as I picked out some pants and a shirt for him. "You, mommy, Ella and Wally are coming today. And you're staying all day." Matteo smiled and went to hug me. "Thank you daddy." I then smiled as I went to put some clothes on his bed. "But, you have to be a good boy and help mommy okay?"

Matteo nodded and agreed as I went to help him get dressed when I got an e-mail. It was from Med. Connie just got into an accident was there. I was shocked. "Oh my god!" Gabby then came downstairs to get the babies when she looked at me. "Everything okay?" I looked at her and shook my head. "I need you do to something for me today. Connie just got into a wreck. I have no secretary. Do you mind helping? I am sure it's all going to be good." Gabby nodded and agreed with me. "Hey, of course I'll help. I can be your secretary until everything is better." I nodded and agreed. "Firehouse 90 responded so, we'll have to swing by to get an update.

Gabby nodded and smiled. "Please, let me. Now listen...I have the kids. Go get a call." That's when I got a call from Anna Valdez, the Paramedic from Firehouse 90 who picked her up. "Hey Anna, how are you?" Anna then sighed. "Matt, I wanted you to hear it first. We just drove your secretary to the hospital. She codded on the way. Of course we can't say anything but...I am so sorry for your loss." I then got shocked when I looked at Gabby. "Thanks Anna. Uhm, I am not sure how to proceed but...thanks for the news." I then went to hang up and looked at Gabby.

Staring at me, Gabby just walked up to me and went to grab my neck. "Listen, I have the kids and everything. I will be there and help you okay? I'll be your secretary and help you okay? It'll be fun to be right next to you. And the kids will be there too." I nodded and agreed as I turned to look at Matteo. "Hey bud listen, daddy needs to go okay? Mommy is bringing you to the firehouse." I then went to kiss his cheek before getting up. I then walked over to Gabby and grabbed her waist. I then moved to kiss her softly. "You are a saint. Now listen, I am going to call Severide and Hermann, see you at the house. Can you bring me whatever you make and don't rush. Just get the kids ready."

Gabby nodded and agreed. "Hey, take a breath and relax. I will see you at the house okay?" I nodded while going to kiss her again before going to run away to get to work.

NOTE TO READERS: Hey, I know that this was rushed but...as I previously mentioned, I planned to get her out of the story. I just thought of this way. Now, please don't judge me. I am going to figure this out. Anyways, this gives us more Dawsey time at the firehouse...like we all know you all want. But, now back to the story....may Connie RIP.
