Matt's POV: After making our way back to the firehouse, I grabbed my radio and then went to make my way into the firehouse right away. Everybody just turned to look at me and knew exactly why I was doing this. I was back where I said goodbye to Gabby and needed to promise her (again) that I will never say goodbye to her. Running to where she was with Stella, I walked in and looked at her and smiled. Gabby then turned to look at me. "Hey, how was the call?" She then got up. Walking up to her, I then tugged her close before kissing her. Stella was shocked when I did that. "What the hell was that all about?" Gabby then leaned back. "You okay?"

I sighed while looked at her. "We were at that warehouse again." Gabby then stared at me. "You mean...the one where you said goodbye?" I then sighed while going to grab her neck. "Never again remember?" Gabby nodded and agreed as she looked at Stella. "Hey Stella, can we have the room?" Stella nodded and agreed. "I remember that fire." We both agreed and I smiled at her. "Thanks Stella." She then walked out to go see Severide when I stepped close to Gabby again. Grabbing her hands, I then smiled at her while intertwining our fingers. "How are you after going there Matt?" I then sighed and just looked at her. "It was hard being there again."

Gabby nodded and understood when I said that. "I am positive that I would have a hard time behind there too." I then stepped close to her while moving my hands to her hips. Kissing her softly as we held each other, I then felt her move her hands to my chest. "I promise, it will never happen again." Gabby smiled and agreed with me. "How about we sit down with the kids for a minute? I mean unless you have to do a report?" I then smiled at her. "After this call, I think I can make an exception considering it was an emotion filed, personal call."

Gabby nodded and smiled as she went to lay down on our bed when Severide and Hermann walked up to the room. "Can we speak quick Matt?" I then sighed as I looked at Gabby. "Two minutes okay?" I then went to walk out to talk to them. "Sorry I rushed out of there, I just had to see her after being there. Promise I wouldn't say goodbye again." Hermann nodded and agreed as he hugged me. "You did a good job there man. You kept your composure even though we both knew that was a hard place to be. Now, just relax with your family."

I nodded and agreed. "Get Lee Henry to workout a bit okay? He needs to be able to lift those hoses easier. I want him doing hose drills on the driveway for a bit." Hermann nodded and agreed. "Got it chief." He then walked away to get Lee Henry doing house drills, leaving me and Severide alone to talk quickly. "How are you doing man?" I then smiled at him. "Much better. Thanks for asking." He smiled when I said that. "Look on the bright side though, you didn't say goodbye to Gabby there this time." I nodded and agreed, hugging him.

"Go be with Stephen while we are still here. Work on your report while he naps." Severide agreed as he walked away. Meanwhile, I went to join Gabby in our room before smiling at her. Going to sit on the bed with her, I then wrapped my arm around her while she cuddled up to me. Kissing the top of her head, I looked at her. "How are you doing knowing that's where the call was?" Gabby then looked up at me and then smiled as she went to kiss me softly. "I am just glad that I wasn't there. Sorry but, I am not ready to go back there yet."

I nodded and smiled when she said that when I felt Ella come cuddle up to me. Wrapping my arm around her as I held my girls close to me, I then went to kiss Ella's head before turning to look at Gabby and leaning down to kiss her softly. "I love you and I am so glad that really wasn't goodbye. I would much rather be here with you right now." Gabby smiled when I said that. "Same here Matt, same here." I smiled and then went to run my fingers through her hair, glad we have a minute to be alone...hoping it's longer instead of short.
