Matt's POV: After spending the past 20 minutes reading to Matteo, I smiled when I finally made my way up to bed. Gabby was just laying there and I could tell she was tired. Her eyes were barely open and I wasn't going to keep her up longer than I had to. Walking over to her side table, I decided to shut off her lamp when she looked up at me. "Hey, how'd it go?" I nodded and smiled at her. "It went good. But you look exhausted." Gabby nodded and sighed. "Stella is coming tomorrow to join us." I nodded and agreed. "Sounds good. Did you tell your mom?"
Gabby nodded and agreed. "She's glad I am going to go and says that she is just a call away." I nodded and smiled before going to join her in bed. Wrapping my arm around her before closing the covers, I felt Gabby lay her head down on my shoulder while putting her hand on my chest. Kissing the top of her head, I whispered to her. "You are going to be okay at the firehouse tomorrow right? I know I'm going to be there but...I am not going to be much help with the kids. I mean, I will help if asked but...only if I'm not busy. Hope that's okay?" Gabby nodded.
"Matt, just remember that I am not going to stop Matteo from wandering into your office okay? If he's there to spend a bit of time with his daddy...promise you won't get mad at him." I nodded and understood as I moved my hand to her butt. I then looked down at her and went to kiss her softly. "I promise Gabby. Now listen, we turning on the TV or are we just going to talk about stuff?" Gabby sighed when she held me. "I want to talk about my dad. I am scared Matt. What if he comes back and you aren't here." I sighed and went to kiss her head. "You're safe here."
Gabby nodded and agreed. "I guess I could just call Antonio." I nodded. "Yes, and he will take your side automatically. We both know he is appalled by everything your dad has done to us over the years. And he is not going to ruin our life with 3 kids okay? I promise." Gabby smiled and agreed. "Remind me to grab my pump. I am going to make bottles so that people can help feed the babies. And I expect you to feed them for a bit tomorrow." I nodded and smiled. "We will set up the cribs in my office. The chief's office. It's the one that's the quietest and it's the safest."
Gabby then went to rub my chest. "Sure thing. But about Lee Henry, he have turnout gear yet?" I shook my head. "He is getting fitted for it tomorrow I think. I ordered his jacket from the fire academy already and it will be there soon. By why are we talking about work right now when we are in bed?" Gabby laughed and smiled while turning her head to look up at me. "Because I want to know how your day went. And who knows, if tomorrow goes good...me being there might be a regular thing. I know it might be a lot but..." I shook my head while running my fingers through her hair. "Gabby, I want you there. Some anytime you want. It's home for us and the kids."
Gabby nodded and agreed. "I texted Cruz to tell him that I am going in with the kids if he wants to join us with his triplets." I nodded and understood. "Wow, so we are talking about 7 kids tomorrow. That will be fun." I laughed and agreed. "Hey, you said community firehouse." I nodded and agreed. "Tomorrow morning, we need to take a shower okay? I have my alarm set. But listen, can we head to bed now? We need to leave 15 minutes earlier since we also need to bring the kids' stuff in and out of the house." Gabby smiled and agreed. "Can we go breakfast at the firehouse." I smiled, liking that idea. "Sounds like the plan. Night babe." Gabby smiled when I said that. "Night Matt."
Falling asleep in each other's arms, I was so glad that she was joining me at work tomorrow.
