Chapter 99

Matt's POV: Once me and Gabby finished getting ready for bed, I smiled when I saw Matteo laying down in the middle of our bed where he was going to sleep tonight. Meanwhile, Wally was currently in his crib on my side of the bed while Ella was in her crib on Gabby's side of the bed. That's when I saw Matteo watching Disney on our iPad. "What you watching buddy?" Matteo then looked up at me. "Star Wars." I smiled when he said that before quickly looking at Wally who was sleep. Bending down, I went to kiss his forehead. "Night baby boy." I then went to rub his cheek and covered him up with his blanket. 

Once that was done, I walked over to bed and set my phone down on my charger. Getting in bed next to Matteo, I smiled when I went to join Matteo in watching Star Wars. Wrapping my arm around him, I smiled. "You know, I used to watch Star Wars when I was a kid too. It was my favorite. Who's your favorite character?" Matteo then turned to look at me. "R2D2" I smiled when he said that. "I like Princess Lea. She's pretty." That's when I heard Gabby come out. "Who's pretty?" I smiled at her. "Princess Lea. He's watching Star Wars." Gabby then looked at me. "Who's more attractive? Carrie Fisher or me."

I looked at her and smiled. "I don't know, a woman who can work a light saber is pretty sexy." Gabby then glared at me before going to grab her pillow. "You think a light saber hurts!" I then stared at her. "But the woman who gave me kids is incredibly beautiful." I then gulped. "Love you." Gabby then nodded. "Yeah, yeah. Love you too." Gabby then went to get in bed with the two of us before cuddling up to Matteo. I then looked at her and went to kiss her while Matteo laid down in between us. I then bent down to kiss Matteo's head.

Holding her hand as we sat together. "So, what do we have planned for tomorrow?" Gabby then looked at me and thought about it. "I was thinking we could call Antonio and go over there. We haven't been to his place since he made the nurseries and I want to see them." I smiled when she said that. "That sounds like fun. However, I think I might want to go see Severide too. We haven't seen his new place since they finished moving in." Gabby nodded and agreed. "You know what, we can visit Antonio's anytime. We can only visit Severide some days."

I nodded and agreed. "I'll call him in the morning to see if we can set something up. However, I want to talk about something else." Gabby looked at me a bit confused. "What's that?" I smiled at her. "I spoke to my mom recently. She's going to be coming to our place February 11th to the 15th. I am not saying where but...I booked a hotel for the night of February 13th and 14th. So, make sure you pack an overnight back on the 13th for 2 days and nights. I am taking you out for Valentine's day. No kids." Gabby thought about it and sighed. "Matt, I love the idea but..."

I looked at her and sighed. "What's wrong Gabby?" Gabby just sighed and looked at me. "First, let me just say that I love the idea and the planning you put into this plan." I then nodded. "I hear a but coming." Gabby nodded. "I am not sure I am ready to spend a full night away from Wally yet, let alone 2 nights. Matt, I get you want to celebrate your birthday and Valentine's Day alone with me but...I am not ready to do that yet. Please understand." I nodded and agreed with her. "Gabby, of course I understand. I should've expected that." 

Gabby smiled and nodded. "However, I will accept a change to go out on Valentine's Day. We can go on a nice date where we get dressed up. I will wear a tight dress and you can wear something that makes you look incredibly handsome. Not that you don't look incredibly handsome right now." I smiled when she said that and rubbed her hand while looking down to Matteo who was in his own little world when it came to him watching Star Wars. "And we'll go to a fancy restaurant and have a glass of wine. We can come have fun here."

I sighed when she said that. "Gabby, I want to wait until you are done with your surgery okay? I get that's almost 2 months away but...I just want to be safe. I can do the showers and stuff but...I am not ready to take the risk. We can't do 4 kids Gabby." Gabby sighed as she went to push a strand of hair behind her ear. "I understand and you are right. 3 is enough." I agreed. "I am more worried about what would happen. Gabby, I am back at the firehouse and we know that comes with risks. I can't take the chance of you having to raise 4 kids on your own."

Gabby smiled and agreed with me. "I understand Matt." She then looked at Matteo. "Hey Matteo, how about you move onto my side of the bed? Mommy likes to cuddle up to daddy at night." I smiled when she said that and nodded. Matteo then turned to look at her before moving out of the way for a minute. Gabby then slipped close to me and laid down close to me. Looking at Matteo as he went to lay down in Gabby's spot, I smiled as I went to put my hand on her hip. Turning my head to look at her, I smiled. "Listen, what I just said...I am not going into fires. I promise Gabby. It's just too much."

Gabby nodded and just listened to me. "But with me working these long shifts, I am worried about you Gabby. Once the kids are older, you won't be able to bring them to the firehouse and then you'll be on your own. And with your OCD and Anxiety, that just worries me." Gabby then looked at me and then went to grab my neck. Bringing my lips down to hers, Gabby then went to kiss me softly. "I love you Matt and what you are saying is completely right." I smiled when she said that before rubbing her back while looking at Matteo as he relaxed on the iPad. He eventually ended falling asleep in our bed. Me and Gabby also did the same after cuddling together for the next 2 hours.
