Chapter 81

30 Minutes Later when Gabby is back from the hospital:
Matt's POV: As I sit in my office with Matteo in my lap, I smile as he eats his nuggets while I wait for Gabby to come back so we can eat together. Matteo looks at me. "Papa, I done." I then turned my attention away from my laptop to see he was not done. "Matteo, finish your last nugget." Matteo then agreed and went to finish it. "Good job buddy." That's when I heard Gabby come into the office. "You seriously when out and got him McDonald's?" Looking up at her, I smiled. "Gallo went. I asked him to get some. Now, you start eating and let me put my babies in the cribs."

Gabby smiled and agreed as I got up. Letting Matteo down, I looked  him before giving him his toy. "Go relax buddy. Maybe go bug uncle Kelly." Matteo nodded and agreed as he walked away while I walked over to Gabby. "Do we have to talk about me saving Diego?" Gabby shook her head before grabbing my back. "It wasn't a fire, so I am okay." I nodded and went to grab her butt as I went to kiss her forehead softly. "I want you to relax okay? When we are off shift, we'll drive home slowly. You ahead of me. I will bring Matteo in the Tesla." Gabby agreed with me.

"Next shift, when I come...can we drive in together?" I nodded and smiled at the idea. "That sounds better. But...that would mean you have to stay the entire time." Gabby smiled and liked the sound of that. "Listen, can you do me a favor and watch the kids? I am emotionally drained and just want to go take a nap." I looked at her. "Can you at least eat first?" Gabby nodded before going to sit down in my good chair. I laughed and agreed before going to grab my food and then going to sit on the couch I had in there with the babies.

"How's Diego? His dad rip into him." Gabby laughed and nodded. "And so did you. Where did that come from?" I sighed and looked at her. "I had flashbacks to when we had a fire. Sure, he's not Matteo but...you understand what I mean right?" Gabby nodded and agreed as I went to take a bite of my burger. "I totally understand Matt. Anyways, you love him like a son." I smiled and agreed. "I love all my nieces and nephews like they were my own kids. Because for the longest time, they were the closest things I had to kids."

That's when I heard somebody walk into my office. "Sorry if I'm disturbing." Gabby then looked up to see it was her former sister-in-law, Laura Olivo (Dawson). "I just wanted to come in and personally say thank you for saving Diego's life. I know Antonio did it but..." I then got up and smiled. "It's okay Laura. I understand." I then went to hug her. "How are you and how is Diego?" She sighed. "Grounded. His dad is pissed off at him so bad." I then looked at her. "Language, we have 2 babies in here Laura." Laura nodded and looked at Gabby. "Okay, how do you look like that!"

Gabby then laughed, knowing exactly what she meant. She looked really good for being less than a month post-birth. "Let's just say that I have a great exercise partner." Gabby then smirked at me. "We haven't done anything other than hot make outs yet though. We haven't had time. Between my job, the three kids...I am desperate." Gabby smiled when I said that. "Tonight." I nodded and agreed as she walked over to me. Wrapping my arm around her, I then kissed her softly. "Sorry Laura, need to flirt and keep the spark alive whenever I can."

Laura nodded and understood. "Believe me, I get it." Gabby smiled and went to rub my back. "Listen, how about you sit down and we can talk for a bit Laura? Then we can go sit with our friends Matt. We can't stay in here all the time remember? I saw the guys playing poker." I smiled and agreed. "Then you talk to Laura, I will go join in with my meal." She agreed and smiled as I got up and then went to walk away with my food to go join in on some poker. "We can leave the kids here right?" Gabby nodded. "While they sleep."

I smiled and agreed before walking away to go join the poker game.

Gabby's POV: Once Matt left to go play poker, I decided to sit on the couch he recently put in there with Laura. "Sit down and relax. Talk to me Laura." Laura sighed. "This is awkward. I know how close you are with Sylvie." I nodded. "She is my best friend. But, Diego is my nephew and you are his mom. Our relationship has been much longer. Talk to me Laura." Laura sighed as she looked at me. "Do you think Diego is starting to act out again and being rebellious?"

I sighed when she asked me that. "Laura, you have to remember that Matteo is only 17 months old. I do not have a teenager. So, I am not even sure what the difference is between a normal kid and a hormonal teenager yet. Plus, I haven't really been paying attention to how he is acting recently because of the fact I have 3 kids." Laura nodded and agreed. "I am just scared to talk to Antonio about it. I mean, with his alcohol and stuff....I don't want to set him off."

I agreed and nodded. "Laura, he went to rehab while we were in Puerto Rico. I promise, he is much better. And he has been so much better since Sylvie came back into his life, they got married and had kids. Believe me, he has changed and I don't think he's going to drink after this. He's a different man from before Puerto Rico." Laura nodded and agreed. "And you are saying that because you are his sister or because you mean it?" I sighed, understanding her point.

"Let's just say this Laura...I wouldn't be comfortable bringing my kids around him if I thought alcohol was going to be a problem. I need to make sure that they are just as safe as all of his kids. Laura, I mean it when I say that he's changed after rehab." Laura nodded and agreed. "Okay. Listen, I am sorry for bothering you...I just wanted to talk to someone I can trust to speak honestly to me. Sylvie is still timid around me because I am his ex-wife."

I nodded and understood. "Now, how about we talk about something less awkward and catch up?" Laura smiled and agreed as we sat there together, taking a bit of time to catch up.
