Chapter 32

Matt's POV: After taking the call from the academy, I walked in smiling as I rubbed the back of my head. "Thank you so much. This is a great favor. I promise, you won't regret it. I know it's the whole policy but his dad appreciates it." The academy placement officer then replied. "I am sure he's ecstatic. Now, do you have any requests for his last part of the training?" I bit my lip and nodded. "Yeah, apparently...he wants to do squad. So if he could maybe lean towards that?" The officer then agreed. "We will try our best. Congratulations again on your promotion Chief Casey." I smiled. "I am just glad I have my first Candidate coming this July. Don't tell him, I will do it."

The placement officer agreed. "Of course Chief. Have a good day." I then hung up and smiled as I walked back into the bedroom since I took the call in the hallway. I then looked at Gabby and nodded. "No! They placed Lee Henry at 51?" I nodded and smiled. "This is going to be awesome. However, that means he has to quit Molly's. I am not having him at 2 places. We have to keep Molly's out of the firehouse." Gabby then looked at me. "By the way, what would you say if I wanted to go back there for a while when Wally is say, 3 months?" I nodded and smiled. "If you think you can do it, go ahead. However...Chief gets free drinks again." I laughed and nodded.

"Now, are you going to have to call our co-Owner or am I?" I then shook my head. "I got it." I then went to go call Hermann and smiled as I prepared to tell him the news. "By the way, we can order from there for supper if you want." Gabby nodded and smiled. "After you talk to Hermann...can you make an order and then go pick it up? I have to take a shower anyways." I nodded and agreed. "Wait until tonight when the kids are asleep and I will join you." Gabby nodded and smiled when I said that, loving the idea. That's when I got Hermann.

"What's up Chief?" I smiled when he said that. "Hermann, can you get Lee Henry on the phone with us. I have news." Hermann then got excited and walked into the kitchen. "Hey Lee Henry, it's Chief Casey. He has some news." I then heard Lee Henry speak. "About my placement?" Hermann then put it on speaker. "Go ahead Matt. Cindy is here too." Cindy then got worried. "Please tell me it's good news Matt. I need to know my two boys will be safe and at the same firehouse." I agreed and smiled. "Well Cindy, you might want to teach him some good food to cook okay? Sorry but, I prefer your cooking to Hermann's"

Hermann then yelled. "Hey!" Gabby laughed. "Oh shut up Hermann. You aren't allowed in the kitchen at Molly's for a reason. You always screwed up when we were getting our license." Hermann understood. "Fine. Wait, is he going to a house with a strict chief? That why he needs to have good food...to make a good impression on them?" I laughed. "No, it's because I actually want to enjoy my food. I mean, I don't expect him to be no Peter but..." Hermann then realized what was happening. "Woah, no way!" I laughed and smiled. "Yeah...you are the new candidate on Squad 3 starting this July. Cindy, promise you will teach him to cook good meals." 

Cindy laughed when I said that. "I promise Matt. We will do it before he starts. I can't wait to see him in his gear." I laughed and smiled. "Hermann, you can start bringing him on whatever days he doesn't work or have classes okay? I want him to get used to being at the firehouse. Also, we are going to put him through the ringer. We can make sure he's ready. And we can also get him fitted for some squad gear. It'll be good training. That way, he can get used to the waking up in the middle of the night. However, he stays at the firehouse. It's just to ease him into the house life and stuff. Once he's officially graduated...he can start your next shift."

Hermann agreed. "You have no idea how much this means to us Matt." I then thought about it. "By the way, I want to ask this...what's your maiden name Cindy?" Cindy then got confused. "Coffin, why?" I then smiled. "Because that's what you need to request on your jacket okay Lee Henry? You are going to go by your mom's name so we don't have two Hermanns at the house. Less confusing. That okay with you guys?" Lee Henry agreed. "Guess that works. Now, am I working under my dad?" I sighed. "No, you are working under Severide since you want to be Squad." Lee Henry agreed. "Of course Chief."

That's when Gabby decided to add on. "Oh and by the way Hermann, you better be sending me my cut sometime soon! I still part-own Molly's bar." Hermann agreed. "Of course. I am actually on my way there if you want to stop by. I am going to go work tonight." I agreed. "You want me to go get the food or would you rather your mom do it?" Gabby then smiled at me. "You go ahead. I want someone to personally make sure shit hasn't changed there." I laughed and agreed. "Of course. Just get us our usual stuff okay Hermann?  Have it ready in an hour?"

Hermann agreed. "Sure thing. Now listen, I have to get going. We are working." I smiled. "Hey, is Diego back on at Molly's? We okay'd that right?" Hermann agreed. "Yeah, tell him he has shift. We haven't updated it yet." I agreed. "Sure thing. I will call him." We both agreed and smiled. "See you soon Matt." I then went to hang up before looking at Gabby. "One call down. Now to call our employee." Gabby laughed and agreed, ready to call Diego to get him to work.
