Chapter 178

Matt's POV: After helping Matteo go to the washroom, I went to send him back to Gabby. "Matteo, can you go see mommy? I am going to go to the washroom too." He nodded and agreed as he went to go see Gabby. Meanwhile, I went to go to the washroom when I saw Cordova come out of the shower after getting dressed. He then looked at me. "Oh, sorry Chief." I then looked at him. "Where have you been most of the time." He then sighed. "Sleeping." Quickly finishing up, I went to go wash my hands. "Let me guess, you are hitting that point in David's life where he is starting to learn between the differences in Day and Night?" He agreed and sighed. "Yes."

I laughed when he said that. "Believe me, it's the worst. I am just glad we are done after 3. Out of all the parts of having kids that are great, the first couple months are the hardest considering they don't know the different between night and day. Matteo however wasn't that bad I find." He agreed and nodded. "I also liked to sleep in the middle of the day so that at night I cant ake over for Melanie." I laughed and agreed. "She pumping?" Cordova nodded and agreed. "For that exact reason." Finishing up, I then went to zip up before going to wash my hands. "Just curious, you on 24 hour shifts or 24 over 48?" Cordova was confused when I said that. "What?"

 I was confused. "You didn't know that you can do 2 consecutive 12 hour days before getting 48 hours off?" Cordova shook his head, seemingly shocked that we could even do that. "I wish I knew. I might start doing that if it's okay." I nodded and smiled at him. "Well, it's up to you but I am staying here tonight. But, I was just going to ask this. You think maybe you can come back on the 12th and 13th? I was going to give Hermann more time to be with his son." Cordova nodded and agreed. "Sure thing. Let me just talk to my chief at Firehouse 90." I nodded and agreed. "Tell him to call me if he has any questions about it. And talk to Melanie too of course."

We both nodded and agreed when we heard the bells go off. "Truck 81, Squad 3...Fire at Roosevelt Collection Shops." We then both ran out of the washroom to get to work when I saw Gabby in the office. "Hey, stay safe." I nodded and agreed as she walked to the door. Quickly grabbing her waist, I went to kiss her softly. "See you soon." I then went to run out to my truck so that I could get in. Grabbing my jacket on the way, I then went to throw it onto the passenger seat along with my radio before watching as the trucks left the building before me. Waiting for Truck 81 to leave, that's when I realized that we didn't have an ambulance right now.

Pulling out of the garage, I went to follow truck and squad to the fire before grabbing my radio to call dispatch. "Firehouse 51 to Dispatch." Dispatch then radio'd back. "Go ahead Chief." I then went to push the call button again. "Can we get an ambo to the fire at Roosevelt Collection Shops? Ours is out on a previous call." They agreed. "I'll send Firehouse 90's Ambo." I agreed and then laughed since we had Cordova. Makes sense that they are going to see each other while he is working for me." Cordova obviously overheard and laughed. "Figures they send Firehouse 90 when I need them eh Casey?" I laughed and radio'd back. "Yeah, that's quite funny eh?" 

I then decided to radio to Gianna. "Chief Casey to Ambo 61." Stella then radio'd back. "Go ahead Chief." I then spoke to her. "When you're done at Med. Can you meet us at the fire? Roosevelt Collection Shops." She agreed. "Got it Chief. See you there." I then smiled and went back to driving towards the fire.
