Chapter 153

45 minutes later as Matt walks out to the common room:
Matt's POV: Walking out into the common room, I can't help but wonder where Gabby and the kids are. She was going to get us some lunch at Molly's and I was starting to get worried because she said she would be 30 minutes. That's when I decided to see if she was just outside talking to someone when I saw her pull up into the parking spot just outside. Walking over to the door that led out to private lot where we park, I saw her get out with the food. "Hey, what took so long?" She then looked at me and sighed. "Sorry, I offered to get food for the Hermanns. Dropped it off on my way back to the firehouse." I nodded and understood. "Food or kids?" Gabby then smiled. "Get the kids out. I am not taking the stroller." I then nodded and agreed as I went to open the back door so that I could reach into the passenger side.

Grabbing Ella from her car seat, I smiled when I put her in my arms. "Hi princess. You miss daddy?" Ella then cuddled up to me and I smiled while kissing the top of her head. That's when I saw Gabby grab Wally. "You sure that you have him and the food?" Gabby then smiled. "Yeah, I put it in a bag. Can you grab the drinks though? They are in the cup holders." I nodded and agreed as I went to open the passenger door before reaching in to grab them. "When did you feed them last? Because they must be due sometime soon." Gabby then agreed. "Yeah, I made some bottles during last call. We can feed them while we are eating lunch hopefully." I agreed and smiled while walking over to her side.

Wrapping my arm around her waist, I smiled as I went to kiss her head. "It's so quiet here without the kids. It was weird." Gabby smiled and agreed as we walked in together. Opening the door for her, I then went to lead her in when I saw Mouch walk over to us. "Here, you guys need help?" I then looked at Gabby and smiled. "Here, can you take Ella? We have food to eat. And we have to feed them." Gabby then turned to look at me. "You know, I wonder whether any of our firehouse friends would like to feed them." I then bit my lip. "I can't order them to do it. But, if they volunteer...I wouldn't be opposed."

Mouch then smiled. "Is that their milk in the fridge Gabby?" Gabby then bit her lip. "Matt, I would rather just do it okay? They are still young and..." I then agreed. "Of course. Whatever you are comfortable with. Speaking of which, you did wash your hands right Mouch?" Mouch nodded and agreed. "Babies in the firehouse means we need to wash our hands." I agreed and smiled as we all walked in when I saw Antonio there with Sylvie. "Ah, that's what he means by babies in the house." Antonio then turned to look at us and smiled. "I needed to get this one out of the hospital." I then turned to look at Gabby. "I knew I forgot to do something while we were there!"

Gabby nodded and agreed. "Yeah, I should've said something." Sylvie then turned to look at us. "You were just at the hospital?" I sighed. "Lee Henry got into a little accident on a scene. So, we rushed him there. Sorry if I had to come back. We should've went up. Here, sit down guys on the couch." Mouch then looked up at us from the couch. "Uhm..." Sylvie then stared at him. "I just gave birth Mouch! Move it or else I will get Chief brother-in-law to do something." I then laughed and looked at Mouch. "Move it Mouch." Mouch then agreed as he went to go sit at the table. I then went to bring Gabby to the table when I looked at Antonio who was holding Theo.

"Hey Antonio, can you pass Theo to Sylvie? Then you can hold Ella." Antonio then nodded as he went to pass Theo to Sylvie when I gave him Ella. Mouch then looked at me. "He doesn't have to wash his hands?" I then turned to look at him. "Uhm Mouch, he was just at the hospital and has a baby. His hands are already clean." He then agreed. "Right, of course." I then went to set the food down and looked at Gabby. "Can you get it set up? I have to make the announcement." Gabby nodded and agreed as she went to take the food out. Meanwhile, I walked to the center of the room. "Okay, listen up everybody. I have 2 announcements."

Everybody then turned to look at me and nodded. "First of all, Hermann is out for the rest of the day. Stella, I am going to ask you to take over command as you are the truck's Lieutenant. However, you are to work from the outside with me. Thank god we also have Noah here. I just realized that. Both Gianna and Noah are here." Noah Valdez then looked at me and nodded. "Yeah, I was here in the back since Stella can't do heavy lifting. She can only drive." I agreed and nodded. "Okay, then Gianna and Noah...you stay on Ambo. Severide, you okay with Stella on truck if she just drives and works from outside with me?"

Severide then turned to look at me and nodded. "Yeah. Just make sure she doesn't overwork herself." I agreed and nodded before turning to look at Gabby. "You going to be okay here with the babies and Stephen?" Gabby then smiled at me. "I am going to fine Matt. Now eat up before you have to go on another call. By the way, we are totally going to sleep at our place tonight. Sorry but, after this...I need our bed overnight." I agreed and nodded. "Okay, that sounds great." I then moved to sit with her and smiled when I went to grab my food. Sylvie then looked at us. "They change the shift schedule?" I nodded. "Yeah, we work 8 to 8 for 2 consecutive days. Then we have 2 days off. Matteo is with my mom tonight though at...our place."

Gabby then looked at me. "Never mind, we can stay here. We can get used to the 24 hour shifts again." I agreed and nodded as I looked at her. We then continued to eat lunch together as we sat with the kids. "Tomorrow though, she's not staying. We get out bed back." Antonio then looked at me. "Wait, is she sleeping in your bed?" I nodded. "Yeah, her back." We all agreed and understood while eating lunch together that afternoon.
