Chapter 84

Matt's POV: As we arrived at the scene of the fire, I saw a whole lot of students running around. I then sighed as I went to radio to dispatch. "Chief Casey to dispatch." As I went to park the car, I watched as Severide got out. Yelling at him. "Co-ordinate with Hermann. Do not start search until I am out there okay?" Severide nodded and agreed. "Go ahead Chief." I then went to speak to dispatch. "Can we get an assist from CPD for crowd control. UIC Student Center." Dispatch agreed. "UIC Fire Department on scene as well. They're in control." I agreed.

Getting out, I looked at Lee Henry. "Stay there. It's too chaotic for you to get out. If you get out, I will not be a happy chief!" Lee Henry agreed and just stayed put. Meanwhile, I walked over to the UIC police chief. "I already called CPD. They are coming for crowd control." The chief agreed. "Can you get your officers to start?" He agreed and then I went to walk over to Severide and Hermann. "Okay, what are we looking at?" That's when I heard Patterson walk over. "We got here as fast as we could." I agreed and smiled. "You were around here weren't you?"

Patterson nodded. "What can we do?" I thought about it. "Hermann, aerial up now. Hoses in each venue. This is my scene Patterson, agreed?" Patterson nodded and agreed. "Congratulations again on captaincy Severide." Severide nodded and agreed. "Tony, Capp, Cruz...help with crowd control until further instructions!" Cruz then yelled back. "Got it Captain." He then walked away to go help with crowd control meanwhile, I looked at Patterson. "Okay, so...we have thousands of kids here that can be hurt. Which is the most populated?"

Patterson thought about it. "I say the Student Center." I agreed with him. "Okay, Severide...start a search in Student Center. Use your judgment. However, you also listen to me and Patterson. If either of us say get out to either of our firehouses, you get out as well. Understood?" Severide nodded and looked at his men. "Mask up boys." They all agreed and then went to go start a search. Patterson then turned to look at his guys. "Squad, go search Student Center. Captain Severide is in charge. Same rules. If Chief Casey says out...it's out STAT!" They all yelled. "Yes chief!" I then sighed when I saw who they sent. "Fuck, they sent him."

That's when I saw Antonio get out of his car to help with crowd control along with Jay. "Where you need us Matt?" I then looked at them and went to see where Sylvie is. "Antonio, you are doing northside of the scene." Antonio then saw Sylvie and was about to complain..."Antonio, northside! You are at my scene. I do not need you distracted. Jay get the southside!" Jay agreed and then looked at me. "What about Lucky?" I then thought about it. "Use her as an extension. Get her to bark when they get too close." Jay agreed and went to start.

That's when I saw Atwater, Burgess and Ruzek walk over. "Where you want us?" I then looked at them. "Burgess, you go assist Antonio. Keep him concentrated on his job. His wife is here!" Burgess then agreed and ran away. "Ruzek, you are on the southside with Jay!" Adam then went to complain. "But..." I just stared at him. "Ruzek, same for you. Don't need you distracted with your wife over there. So, get there or I call Voight and get him to arrest you for not listening to me. This is MY SCENE!" Ruzek then agreed and went to be with Jay. 

Patterson then stared at me. "Dang, you got these guys scared." I laughed. "It's because I am friends with Voight, his daughter and his son-in-law. Now, the fire." I then went to see Sylvie getting in the ambulance. I then realized that I didn't ask Patterson to bring his ambo. "Patterson, can you get your ambo here too? I am calling for backup. Getting yours here is a good start." Patterson agreed and went to radio for his ambulance to join us. Meanwhile, I went to call dispatch. "Chief Casey to Dispatch." They then replied again. "Go ahead Chief."

I then thought about how many ambos I need. "Can I get a few more ambos on scene. We are close to the hospital." Dispatch agreed. "On route chief. 3 good?" I thought about it. "Just send whoever is nearby. No harm. If they have to go, then they can" Dispatch agreed and went to do that for me. Meanwhile, I went to check on the scene. Seeing some young kids come out of the athletic center got me scared. They were about Matteo's age and I got distracted a bit when I heard Patterson speak to me. "Casey!" I then shook my head. "They on their way?"
