Chapter 139

Matt's POV: After putting all of the kids to bed and brushing my teeth, I smiled as I walked into our bedroom to see Gabby sitting in bed wearing a nightie. Taking off my pants, I smirked at her. "Now, that is very tempting." Gabby smiled as she looked at me. "Just want to remind you that this is what you get to come home to if you stay out of fires." I agreed and nodded when she said that. Moving to get in bed with her, I smirked as I slipped close to her before bringing her against my chest. Putting her hands on my face, Gabby then went to kiss me before rubbing my cheeks. "Don't forget that you need to call your mom still before it gets too later." I groaned while looking at her. "God, why did you have to bring up my mom when we are getting sexy?"

Gabby then laughed when I said that before rubbing my cheek. "Because I know that regardless of whether I do it or not, you will love me." I nodded and smiled. "No question about that." I then went to steal a quick kiss from her before rolling over to go grab my phone so that I could call my mom about possibly watching Matteo tomorrow. Finding her contact, I then went to call her and just hoped that it wasn't too late to call her. That's when I heard her answer. "Well, if it isn't Chief Casey. Too busy to call your mom lately?" I sighed when she said that. "Gabby's sister-in-law just gave birth prematurely to our new niece. That and I am firehouse chief now mom."

My mom understood. "Well, I want to see Matteo and those babies of yours soon. So whenever your next day off, you have to either invite me over or come here." I then laughed. "About that. I have a 24-hour shift over the next 2 days. So, 12 hours on, I sleep there overnight and then I do another 12 hours. Then I am done. Now, we were going to send Matteo to an overnight daycare but..." My mom then interjected. "I am having none of it! I am going to watch him if you want Gabby to relax with the kids." I then laughed. "Actually, Gabby is coming to the firehouse with them tomorrow. We just thought that maybe Matteo could have some time with his grandma. You haven't seen him much."

My mom loved that idea. "That sounds great. However, I just have one condition." I then went to listen. "What's that mom?" She then laughed. "You guys spend Wednesday night and part of the day Thursday here at my place. You haven't been here in years Matt." I agreed and smiled. "Sure thing. Now, about the pick up. You want to pick him up here? Because then we can just take one car tomorrow. I can drive my tesla to work." My mom agreed. "Of course. That sounds perfect. Now, can I just confirm your address?" I then smiled. "Let me text it to you mom." Pulling the phone away from my ear, I then went to text it to her quickly.

Putting my phone back to my ear, I continued with the conversation I was having with my mom. "You get my text with our new address mom?" My mom then agreed. "Of course. Now, when does your shift start?" I then thought about it. "I start at 8." My mom understood. "Then expect me there at 7 am. I am going to make you breakfast and spend a bit of time with you, Gabby and the kids." Gabby heard that and smiled since I just put her on speaker. "That sounds great Nancy. It'll be great to see you again." My mom agreed. "Yes. Now listen, I need to go and figure out stuff I am going to do with Matteo. Crafts and stuff." I laughed and agreed. "He'll have his iPad mom."

My mom sighed when I said that. "Well, then you are going to have to tell him that he is not using it all the time. He is going to spend time with his grandmother. Oh and when are you working next because we are getting together Friday right? I want to see you the day before your birthday since you are working this weekend. Then, I can take Matteo for the weekend again." I agreed with that. "That sounds perfect mom. Still can't believe I have to work on both my birthday and the weekend." Gabby then looked at me. "At least I am going to be there." I smiled when Gabby said that before going to kiss her softly. "I love you." Gabby smiled and nodded.

My mom then spoke to us. "Listen, I am going to plan a day for Matteo. You guys have a good night and I will see you at your place in the morning." I agreed and smiled. "See you then mom. Goodnight." We then both hung up and I put my phone on my side table. Smiling at me, Gabby then went to roll over to cuddle up to me. Laying down on my side, I grabbed her hand and intertwined our fingers while holding her close to me. "Van or Tesla tomorrow?" Gabby then went to grab my neck and smiled. "Tesla. I am driving." I nodded and agreed. "Luckily, we have baby seats in there too." Gabby nodded and agreed with me, kissing me softly.

We then eventually fell asleep in each other's arms before shift tomorrow.
