Matt's POV: As we arrived at the scene of the fire, I recognized the place as soon as we drove up. I then just sighed as I got out and looked at the place. "This is where I said goodbye." I then saw Severide and Hermann walk up to me. "Recognize this place?" Hermann and Severide both shook their heads. "Big fire, May 2017." Severide then looked at me. "Oh god, this was where you said goodbye to Gabby." I nodded and agreed. "Don't make the same mistake. We know this place. Severide, this place is deserted. But go check, Hermann get the cannons ready. Severide, keep it short." Severide nodded. "Sure thing chief." He then went to look at his guys and went to get them on their way inside. I then took a minute to compose myself when I cleared my throat.
Quickly taking off my glove and looking at my wedding band, I whispered to myself. "I'm not saying goodbye today. I promise Gabby." I then went to kiss my wedding band before turning my attention to Lee Henry. "Coffin, get the hoses out and help your dad get them ready. Gallo, there's a connection on the side of the building over there. Get it connected. Ritter, get on top and be ready to use the cannon." They all nodded and agreed when I said that before going to radio to Severide. "Severide, how is it in there?" Severide then replied. "Seems abandoned. Wait a second, I see something. Oh c'mon, gang members. Hey! Get out of here smokers!"
I then sighed and just let him take care of it while walking over to Lee Henry. "Get the hoses out and place them in front of the trucks. When your dad goes to grab one, go with him." Lee Henry nodded and agreed. I then turned to look at Hermann. "This one is big. Let him get used to the first blast and then help him when he needs it." Hermann agreed. "Got it chief." He then went to help Lee Henry with the hoses. "Firehouse 51, get the hoses in position for when everybody is out." Everybody nodded and agreed as they got ready. That's when I heard Stella walk over to me. "Isn't this where..." I then turned to look at her and nodded. "Yeah, where I said goodbye."
Stella nodded and went to rub my back to make me feel better. "Let's just hope that Severide doesn't do that to me today." I laughed and looked at her. "Believe me, I will personally yell at him if he does. I will even reprimand him." She smiled and agreed when I saw Severide come out with his crew. "It's abandoned!" I then nodded. "Hermann, get them started!" Hermann nodded as he turned to look at his crew. "Hit it boys." They then ran closer to get it out fast. "Severide, get your crew to help. This is solely about putting the fire out." He agreed and went to grab some hoses. "Never understood why we didn't do that when we got out of there."
"Well, now you are going to because you are under the leadership of Chief Casey. Now, get to work so that we can head back to the firehouse." We all agreed when I said that and then looked at everybody, glad that this was going to be a quick one. Turning to look at Gianna, I smiled. "You can head back to the firehouse okay? Tell dispatch you are available for a run." Gianna agreed and turned to look at Noah who was on shift with her. They then left the scene as I decided to go help out with the hoses. "Severide, get east side. Hermann, attack from west. Then meet in the middle." They both turned to look at me and liked that idea. "Smart."
Proceeding to follow my orders, they then went to their respective ends of the building so that we could get this one done quickly. That way I could talk to Gabby, give her a kiss and promise her (once again) that I will never say goodbye to her ever again.
