Chapter 28

Antonio's POV:
As I made my way up to Matt and Gabby's bedroom, I remembered that they had 3 floors. "God, you couldn't just pick a house with 2 floors eh guys?" I then walked up and right into Gabby's bedroom when she saw me, having obviously heard me. "No, we couldn't just pick a house with 2 floors because this house was closer and the one we liked." I nodded and agreed. "Now, where is that little nephew of mine?" Gabby laughed and then pointed to him in her arms. "You are going to have to wait considering I need to keep him in my arms while feeding him."

I nodded and understood. "You want a drink Sylvie?" Sylvie then looked at me and smiled. "Can you fill up our water bottles? Gabby says she's out. She meant to ask Matt to fill it up before he left but she forgot." I then looked at Gabby. "You forgot or he forgot?" Gabby then glared at me. "Antonio! I just came up here with her. Matt was outside playing with Matteo. Now go before I decide to take Sylvie's side and 'speak' to Matt in my wifely ways to get her back on Ambo by Independence Day. She wants to work under her brother-in-law for a while."

I then put my hand up and didn't want to hear that. "Okay, I didn't need to hear that. I just wanted to check on you. How are you 3 weeks post birth?" Gabby sighed when I said that. "Physically or emotionally?" I then got mad when she said that. "Did he explode at you again after that whole...you being at the fire?" Gabby shook her head. "Don't you get involved. But, I am not speaking about those emotions. It's actually why Sylvie is up here. We are talking about Boden. That's what I mean about emotionally. Toni, he was like a second father to me and Matt."

I then understood what she meant and nodded. "Sorry Gabby." I then walked over and went to kiss her forehead. "By the way, I was so happy to be there for his promotion ceremony." I nodded and agreed. "By the way, why didn't you tell me that Jay and Erin were expecting their second kid? You know that I am friends with them. I would've wanted to send them my congrats right when I found out." I shrugged and sighed. "We haven't been on talking terms recently. I've been busy and we disagreed on a decision about a case. He took lead when it was a drug case."

Sylvie then sighed when I said that. "Antonio, you aren't DHI for Drugs anyways, that's Rojas! You are assistant now. Speaking of assistant, can you go check on the food? We can speak about that later. I keep saying that you are in the wrong. And you are, so just apologize so I can stop hearing about it. You talk about it constantly at home and I am starting to get to a point where I am going to take his side if you guys argue about it at our home again. You are being ridiculous."

I nodded and agreed. "Listen, come down in a bit. Matt has either made or is currently making lunch. Should be ready soon." Both Sylvie and Gabby nodded. "Sure, just let us feed the kids and then we will be down. What's he making anyways?" I then smiled. "Hot dogs for the kids, sausages for the adults." Gabby smiled when I said that before yelling. "Cheese sausages baby?" Matt obviously heard that because he texted her. 'Yeah, don't yell please.' Gabby then smiled.

"How long are you guys staying? I know it's a weekday." I sighed when she asked. "I am only here for lunch. Then, I have to go to the office. I brought my car while Sylvie brought the van. You're okay with me leaving after lunch right babe? I only have until 2." Sylvie nodded and agreed. "Yes. But be back by 6. That's supper and I need your help with him. And then of course, her. And you need to get on paternity leave soon. I don't want to have to call you. By the way, we tell you the name of our daughter yet Gabby?"

Gabby shook her head. "No, I want to know." Sylvie smiled. "I will let you girls talk about it. See you in a bit. I will tell Matt the name okay Sylvie?" Sylvie nodded and agreed as I walked away.

Sylvie's POV:
When Antonio left, I smiled as I turned to look at Gabby. "Okay, you and Antonio both teased me enough about it. I want to know the name. What is it?" I smiled when she asked. "Hannah Sylvia Dawson" Gabby smiled when I said that. "That sounds adorable. Hannah Sylvia Dawson. Wait, Sylvia like you?" I nodded and smiled. "Uhm, of course. However, that was the only part of the name we could agree on. He wanted another Hispanic name considering all of the kids have them. I'm like...hell no! I want my daughter to have an American name. Sorry Toni!"

Gabby laughed when I said that and nodded. "I know, that's why we went with Wally/Wallace. Well that and we wanted to honor chief. I've been meaning to ask people but...what's it like without him there?" I sighed when she asked. "Honestly, it's so weird. It just doesn't feel right. But having Matt there is refreshing. By the way, I want you as my partner when we are both back." Gabby sighed when I said that. "Matt is trying to convince me to take more time that just my maternity leave. I think he's scared and wants to just get settled in without me there."

I sighed when she said that. "Gabby, he worries about you. Heck, Antonio worries about me just when I am at the firehouse. So him being your chief is going to be hard. You know how he is. He always worries for his woman. I mean Gabby, you do realize that this is the guy who would drop everything and rush to your side the minute he learns you are in trouble right? I don't care about what Matt said about you being on a scene. If you got hurt, he wouldn't be mad. He would be telling Hermann to take over for him and he would be in the ambulance with you."

Gabby smiled when I said that because she knew that it was true. "You are so right. Now listen, as much as I love talking to you...I need to get this one finished so that we can make our way downstairs and have lunch." We both nodded and agreed as we got ready to go downstairs.
