Chapter 26

Matt's POV: After spending the past 10 minutes putting Ella to bed for her nap, I made my way back outside with some coffees for me and Severide. I needed some. Sure, I slept a bit early but...I needed some caffeine to stay awake. "Here, take come." Severide then turned to look at me. "Thanks. She down for a nap?" I nodded and smiled. "I have an hour before she wakes up. Then I have lunch. After that, he goes down for a nap and I have daddy-daughter time. God, I am already getting fitted for my tiara and my glass slipper."

Severide laughed when I said that. "You are going to play princess with her aren't you?" I nodded and smiled. "Oh yeah. It's why I put it in my contract that I get to continue with the shifts. I was not going to be an absent father to my kids...not after what I went through with my dad." That's when I heard Camila come out. "Hey Matt, I was just coming to see if you needed anything out here?" I smiled and shook my head. "No, we're good. But thanks."

Camila nodded and agreed. "Listen, you guys need any groceries? I am here to help and since you both are with friends...I thought I could go get groceries." I smiled and nodded. "Did Gabby already give you a list?" Camila nodded. "Yeah, I already spoke to her while you were putting Ella down." I smiled and nodded. "Yeah, that was nice. I miss that when I am at the firehouse." She then nodded and agreed. "Listen, if you want me to take Matteo...I can take him to the store with me." I thought about it and shook my head. "It's okay Camila. I want him with me."

Camila nodded and smiled as she walked away to go to the store. But, not before she could hug Matteo. Watching them say goodbye, I smiled. "And that is the reason I was okay letting her move in. To see that on a daily basis." Severide laughed and smiled. "I didn't even ask." I then turned to look at him. "Oh, but you were thinking it. You've been thinking it since I told you that I let her move in." Severide laughed and agreed with me. "Oh hell yeah I have. I mean, she's your mother-in-law. Yet you are letting her live here." I smiled and nodded. "I love her like a mom."

Severide nodded and agreed as we both looked at Matteo. "Just wish she didn't watch the adult network." Severide then turned to look at me. "Oh no." I nodded. "Yeah, found it on the adult channel this morning when I was going to put it on Disney for Matteo. Let's just say that got Gabby mad! Heck, I didn't even know we had that channel. I have to cancel it or put a lock on it. Heck, I am still moving into this place. It's been so rush. I made the rooms and stuff. But, I still have boxes downstairs I think with summer clothes and stuff. Oh and my surfboard."

Severide just looked at me. "You bought a surfboard?" I nodded and smiled. "Yeah." That's when I got a text from Gabby. 'Hey, can me and Stella get some lunch upstairs? Invite them to stay today. I am catching up and having some girl time. Antonio and Sylvie should be here at 1. Antonio left early - stress.' I understood. "We need to go make our wives some lunch. And I need to find a way to get Antonio here. Apparently, Antonio was stressed at work and left early. You guys want to stay for lunch?" Severide nodded and agreed. "Sure, I can watch him for you."

I nodded and smiled. "Hey Matteo! Uncle Tonio is coming over for lunch! How about you come inside and daddy can make lunch?" Matteo then ran over. "Is uncle Kelly staying?" Kelly nodded and smiled. "Yeah, let's go inside and we can play on your Xbox for a bit." I then looked at him and nodded. "Gabby still hates me for buying that for him. That is until he wants to race and shuts up." Kelly laughed and nodded as we both got up, ready to head inside.
