Jay's POV:
After being outraged that Matt would just offer us a discount on his services, I right away struck his name from the list in my head to the people I would ask for help from when it came to making the nursery. That was, until he made a very good point as to why he should be paid to do it. He after all did have 3 kids. Re-considering his offer, I looked at him. "Okay, that makes sense. How much are you thinking?" Matt then looked at us. "Materials plus $10/hour." I thought about it and it seemed pretty reasonable considering it would only take 2-3 hours."Okay, I guess that works. Sorry, just not really something I expected you to say." Matt nodded and understood. "Hey, I get it. You think just because I am your friend that I will provide services for free. However, I also need to pay the bills. And yeah, I have a job but...if I can get money here and there than I can use for dates, then that's even better." I laughed when he said that. "So the money isn't really going to the kids? It's really going to your date fund for when you and Gabby need some time alone." Matt nodded and smiled. "Yeah, pretty much."
I laughed when he said that before turning to look at Erin. "We'll keep that in mind. However, we might also ask Hank first. He is dying to do something. He can't do much while she's pregnant so..." Matt nodded and understood. "Whatever you guys choose to do, just let me know and we'll work something out. But, you always knew I was not paying for the materials. Sorry but, that was not even negotiable. Not my nursery." I laughed and understood. "So, on to other topics...what's it like being Chief? I mean other than being Voight's equivalent at the CFD."
Matt then smirked. "I am actually above him. I am more equivalent to the head of your police precinct." I nodded and agreed. "That makes a lot of sense. Who is the head of our precinct anyways Antonio?" Antonio then turned to look at me and thought about it. "I always thought it was Voight. He doesn't report to Platt and that's the only other person in the district that would even be considered the head of the district. What you think Erin?" Erin then nodded and agreed with Antonio. "Sorry Matt but, I think you are Voight's equal in rank now."
I nodded and understood before grabbing the last bite of my food. "Hey Matt, you forget to get Gabby a plate of food?" Gabby then shook her head. "No, we've been sharing. Matt doesn't eat much lunch wise. I ate most of it." Matt then turned to look at her. "No, I was just eating my favorites while you at yours. The rest of the stuff is going to be there. I have to go grab another plate. You want seconds?" Gabby nodded and agreed when he said that while I turned to look at Erin. "What about you Erin? Second round of food." Erin nodded and smiled. "Can you?" I went to grab her plate and nodded while walking away with Matt to get more food.
Erin's POV:
Once Matt and Jay went to get some seconds for me and Gabby, I turned to look at Antonio because we both knew that Sylvie was not happy. Gabby then stared at her brother and shook her head when Sylvie spoke up. "Uhm Antonio, you aren't going to..." Antonio then looked at her and nodded. "Right, what some more?" Sylvie just gave him the plate and shook her head. "Sometimes I wonder how in the world you survived with a 15 year marriage." We all laughed when she said that. Antonio then looked at her. "You don't want to know."Antonio then got up and then walked away to the kitchen. However, Sylvie pretty much figured out what he meant. "Okay, now that idea is stuck in my head." She then shivered as we looked at each other. "Oh and boys, maybe so water refills!" They all agreed as they turned to look at us before getting back to work in making us all some new plates when Gabby commented. "I swear, sometimes I wonder how in the world Antonio can judge Matt for not doing stuff when he doesn't even do it himself for you Sylvie." Sylvie nodded when she said that. "So true."
That's when we saw Eva come out of the kitchen. "Glad I got there when I did. Those boys of yours are going to clean up. No leftovers." I nodded and agreed. "Last time I checked Eva, us women need to eat much more. Your aunt is breastfeeding 2 kids, and me and Sylvie are pregnant. Pregnant women need to eat a lot more than men sometimes." Sylvie nodded and agreed. Meanwhile, Diego spoke up from sitting on the ground. "So that's why pregnant women are always so fat." That got everybody's attention including Antonio's.
"Diego Dawson! Apologize to Sylvie, Erin and your aunt! Pregnant women are never fat!" Diego then nodded as he looked at us. "Sorry Sylvie, Erin and tia Gabby." Gabby nodded and agreed. "Just for that, you are starting work an hour earlier today." Diego laughed when she said that. "Hey, more money for me." Gabby then smirked. "I never said it would be paid work. It'll be volunteer work at the restaurant." Diego then started to protest. "But..." Gabby then stared at him. "You want to get the Saturday owl shift that goes from 8 pm to 2 am?"
Diego then got scared when she said that and shut his mouth. "Exactly what I thought. Just remember Diego, I am the one that makes the schedule." I looked at her when she said that. "You do?" Gabby nodded. "My contribution to the bar. I feel like I have to do something to justify me still owning part of the bar. Just sitting around and doing nothing doesn't feel right to me." That's when Matt came back with her plate and gave it to her. "Babe, you aren't doing nothing. You are raising our three children. Mouch, Hermann and Stella all understand that you can't work there all the time. And they also understand the same is true for me. Relax okay?"
Gabby nodded and smiled when he said that before going to grab her plate. "Matt, this is not my plate." Matt then went to look at it and then went to switch plates with her. "Sorry, my bad." Gabby nodded and agreed before going to grab her fork to keep eating when Matteo walked up to her. "Momma, can I have another chicken ball?" Gabby then smiled and nodded as she went to cut one up. "Here, last bite. Then I need to eat okay?" Matteo nodded as he went to take a bite off Gabby's fork when he looked at his dad, hoping that he would cave.
Matt then shook his head. "Matteo, the same goes for me. You can have more later. I already put some leftovers away for us later." Antonio however didn't like the sound of that. "Matt!" Matt sighed when he said that. "Antonio, you know Gabby. She gets hungry sometimes in the middle of the night. Sorry if I wanted to have something ready ahead of time. Remember, we have to feed 2 kids in the middle of the night. Would rather have something ready so that I can help more with the kids than have to make her a meal."
Gabby smiled when he said that and went to rub his hand. "You're the best." She then went to kiss him softly as she cuddled up to him. "After this, we have to put Matteo down for a nap. Maybe we can ask Antonio if he can use one of his kids' beds?" Antonio then walked in and nodded. "Sure thing. Hey Diego." Diego then turned to look at his dad. "Yeah?" Antonio then smiled at him. "Can you go clean up your bed? Matteo needs to take a nap later." Diego agreed. "Let me finish eating and then I will do that." Gabby smiled. "Thanks Diego."
I was shocked that Diego was so gracious. "Okay Antonio, you have to teach us how to make our daughter behave like that when she's older." Antonio laughed. "It's simple. Tell her to get a job that involves her needing to borrow your car. If she doesn't co-operate, she can take a taxi or the bus to the restaurant. As simple as that." I laughed when he said that and nodded. "Touché!" We all smiled as he said that before continuing to eat lunch together.
