A Leap of Faith (Part 2)

Chapter 242 - Women's World Cup

It is now a little while later, and the group are all in the full swing of celebrating Alex and Sam's wedding. Right now, they are all sitting in the ballroom, at the table, where they have been served a bunch of different delicious looking foods. Of course, Kara has been absolutely loving this, for obvious reasons, but so has Lena too, and that may be because of Lena's increased appetite due to the pregnancy. In regards to everyone else though, ever since Alex and Sam were officially pronounced married, the newly married couple have not been able to keep the smiles from their faces. They have just been looking at one another, with big smiles, and kissing each other here and there. Then, at the same time, their daughter, Ruby, has also not been able to keep the smile off her face. Everyone else can see just how happy Ruby is that Sam and Alex are now married. The group know that Alex had already adopted Ruby before this moment, but now that Alex and Sam are married, it very much feels like Ruby's family is complete and everything. So, they are so happy for the teenager, as she now has two great moms who are married to one another.

Over the next hour, the group just continue to eat all their lovely food, while they just talk with each other, and generally have a good time, full of smiles and laughter. However, eventually, it does get to the time where everyone bar J'onn and Winn have to leave, because they have tickets to the women's world cup final.

"I'm sorry about this." Lena says to Alex and Sam, "But we do really have to go now, if we want to get to the game on time."

"Oh, yeah. Okay." Sam nods, checking the time.

"Sorry." Lena says.

"No. It's okay." Alex says, "Us going to see this game is supposed to be for Ruby, so we are more than happy to do it."

"Yeah." Sam nods.

"Alright." Lena smiles, "Then I guess we will all have to say our goodbyes to J'onn and Winn, before heading out."

The group all do say their goodbyes to Winn and J'onn, with Alex even taking J'onn to the side for a few moments, and giving him some kind words of thanks for being here today, and preforming the ceremony. Then, once everyone is finished saying their farewells to J'onn and Winn, J'onn takes Winn in his arms, and the two fly back towards National City. While J'onn and Winn do this, everyone else just makes their way out of the hotel, and towards the cars, which will take them back to the hotel they are actually staying in, where they can get changed before heading to the Stade de France, where the world cup final is being held, in the north west of Paris.

It is now about 45 minutes later, and Kara, Lena, Alura, Morgan, Eliza, Ruby and the newly married couple are just arriving at the Stade de France, where the women's world cup final will be played. Of course, the last 45 minutes have been a bit hectic for the group, because they literally had to get back to their hotel, after the wedding, and then get changed into appropriate clothing for the football, or soccer, match, before then leaving the hotel again, and making their way towards the stadium. Thankfully though, their hotel has provided them with a car service to the stadium, so they didn't have to deal with arranging a car ride, or a taxi, or anything.

As the group pull into the stadium entrance, which happens to be the entrance for VIPs, because Lena has got them all their own box for the final, they see all the lights that the stadium is emitting out from it. It is rather dark right now, seeing as it is just after 7:30, so the stadium really does act as a beacon of light in the city at the moment, which is probably appropriate for the spectacle the world cup is.

"Wow. This is awesome." Ruby says, as she gets out of the car, and looks up at the stadium, completely in awe.

"Yes, this is really quite a sight." Sam comments, with a smile.
