A Leap of Faith (Part 2)

Chapter 367 - Lena's Idea

Lena now makes her way into the entrance area of The Tower, where she sees that Winn is typing away at the main computer, while also hearing the man talk over the communications, clearly to Kara and J'onn. Lena knows that at least that means that Kara and J'onn are moving forward with their mission to track Reign, and therefore are following some sort of lead or something. Lena's big worry was that seeing as she and Alura were basically forced to come back by Lillian, instead of trying to get back on Reign's trail right away, that by the time Kara and J'onn went out there, the trail would be cold, and Reign would be lost to them. However, by the sounds of things, Kara and J'onn have something that they are working off of right now.

"Hello, how is everything going?" Lena asks, as she enters the room.

"JESUS!" Winn says, jumping out of his chair, clearly startled by Lena's presence.

Lena just chuckles at Winn jumping like that.

"Winn, is everything okay?" Lena hears Kara asks over the comms unit.

"Yeah.... yeah...." Winn says, as he holds one hand against his chest, "Your wife just scared the absolute life out of me. You can't walk up on me like that, Lena!"

Lena now hears Kara chuckling over the comms unit.

"Sorry. It's not like I tip toed up on your or anything." Lena says, "I think you obviously just startle easily Winn. Don't worry though, I won't mention it to Jess."

Winn huffs at Lena saying that.

"She already knows that. She's pretty good at it as well. I'm pretty sure she does it just to toy with me at this point." Winn mutters.

Lena smirks at Winn saying that, thinking that Winn is probably right, and Jess just does it to sort of tease and play with her boyfriend.

"Okay. Well, like I said, how are things going?" Lena asks, "I was just taking a break from the gold kryptonite research to check in on everyone."

"Uhh.... things are..... going alright." Winn says, "Kara and J'onn were able to find what you and Alura found, and then trace some footprints to the east. Apparently some of the footprints had been covered up by the wind, which gave them an idea of how far ahead of them Reign is, or was, but now.... they have come across some issue."

"What issue? Have they lost her trail?" Lena asks.

"Not exactly." Winn replies, "They have found that the footprints lead into a town in the desert, so that is an issue."

"Shit." Lena replies, "That means that Reign could go anywhere. A town means people, which means cars, which means Reign could get a car and be anywhere by now."

"No. It's okay, we thought of that." Winn says, "Right now we believe that Reign is somewhere in this town, but where exactly, we don't know. Kara and J'onn looked at the last footprints in the sand before entering the town, and they were able to work out that she must have entered the town less than 10 minutes ago. The town itself is very small, it only has around a thousand people inside, so not many cars leave the town. Over the last hour satellite images show that only 2 cars have left the town. None of them had Reign inside, meaning she is somewhere in the city. Right now J'onn is floating at one end of the town, at one of the roads that leads out of the town, while Kara is at the other. They are just making sure Reign isn't in a car going outside of the town, because if she leaves the town, then we will lose her trail. As they do that, I'm just trying to figure out some sort of better way to do this, because if Kara and J'onn have to wait at the exits of the town, it means they can't go inside the town and search for Reign to try and place the tracker on her."

"Hmmm.... Okay. What's the town called?" Lena asks, as she now moves to one of the computers.

"Mojave Springs." Winn says.
