Chapter 293 - Lena Preparing Leave

Lena and Kara are now just arriving at The Tower, to come see Morgan and Alura, and pick them up, so they can spend some time with all their daughters together, before Lena has to go off to Hawaii tomorrow. Kara did speak to Clark, and he has agreed to take Lena to Hawaii, from National City, starting at 9AM, National City time, tomorrow. Lena and Kara did not want Clark to take Lena any earlier than that, because they thought that if Lena were to leave at 9AM, at least Morgan and Alura should be up out of bed for the morning, and Lena will get the opportunity to say goodbye to Morgan and Alura, and give them one last hug each. On Lena's side of things, while Kara was on the phone to Clark, and for a little while after that, she did feed Lori some more, and once the baby stopped, began pumping some milk, just so that there will be some for Lori over these next few days. Lena just really, really, hopes that she isn't away from her family for too long. Lena knows she has complained a bit about the breast feeding process, and how it is making her nipples sore and everything, but she equally knows, for however long she is in Hawaii, she is going to miss breast feeding Lori, and it's going to be so awkward to pump her breasts, and not have Lori there to give the milk too. Lena thinks, either way, even if there is enough milk to last Lori a couple of days, here in National City, she will just have to pump, put it in a bottle, and then leave it in a fridge, just in case it is needed for a later day, most specifically for Clark, or someone, to come to Hawaii briefly to grab some breast milk. Kara did already mention this to Clark, and while he seemed a bit awkward when broaching the topic, he did say that he would help deliver any breast milk that Lori needs, if it comes to which, which Kara and Lena are both relieved about.

Specifically, in more closer regards to the process of breast feeding itself, Lena has been able to whittle it down to two specific breast pumps that she likes the most, with her now being about 75% sure as to which one she thinks she is going to use for the forcible future. This means that soon, when Lena is completely sure about what breast pump she is going to use, she and Kara will be able to donate the other breast pumps to a charity specifically catering to new mothers. For now though, Lena just plans to keep both of the breast pumps that she has got it down to, wanting to be 100% certain, or as close to 100% as possible, that the one she is only 75% sure on, is going to be the sole breast pump she wants to use moving forward. After all, Lena is a scientist, so she is very much trying to do a scientific method while deciding which breast pump is the best. Although, admittedly, one of the biggest factors that Lena is weighing slightly more heavily than some other factors, is how comfortable each individual breast pump is, while pumping. But Lena does think that's a fair category to weigh higher than the others.

Lena, and Kara, who is holding a sleeping Lori in her arms, now step off the elevator of The Tower, and walk straight into the entrance area of the secret base. Right away, both mothers grow happy smiles on their faces upon hearing the sound of both Morgan and Alura laughing, and sounding like they are having a really great time. Kara and Lena know that Morgan and Alura clearly are both loving the fact that they are getting to spend time with all three of their grandmothers at the same time. In some ways, it makes Lena and Kara think about how lucky their children are, as growing up Kara and Lena really didn't have many parental figures, because of everything they both went through. Kara lost her birth parents when Krypton exploded, and she was sent away to Earth. Then, even when Kara arrived in Earth, and got new adoptive parents in Eliza and Jeremiah, just over a year and a half later, Kara lost Jeremiah, after he was killed in action. Then, on Lena's side of things, she, of course, lost her birth mom, or thought that she lost her birth mom. After that, she was brought into the Luthor family, where her parents became Lionel and Lillian. However, at the time, for Lena, it really felt like she didn't have any parents at all, because Lillian hated her, and Lionel just was either too busy with running Luthor Corp, or too much of an alcoholic to spend much time with her. The only ever comfort Lena took in knowing that about Lionel, is that he equally spent very little time with both herself, and Lex. On the flip side of things, Lillian spent 95% of her time with Lex, and only 5% of her time with Lena, where during the time she was with Lena being where she would be mean and abusive to Lena. So, both Kara and Lena really had a lack of parents growing up, for various reasons, and certainly no grandparents, and they feel so lucky that Alura, Morgan, and now Lori will have so many grandparents, not only in Eliza, Lillian, and Elizabeth, but also a sort of grandfather in J'onn too.
