A Leap of Faith (Part 2)

Chapter 299 - Escaping Leviathan

Nia has now made it to the end of the corridor, and she only sees one door at the end of it, so she knows this must be the room that her sister and mom are inside. Nia hasn't seen either of them in several months now, so she is starting to feel rather emotional about the prospect of actually getting to see them again. However, at the same time, Nia does worry about what she is going to see, or experience, because she remembers her mother's words to her, in her dream, that she would only be able to see her mom one more time, briefly, before she dies. Nia doesn't want to have gone through all this, just for her mom to die. Nia isn't ready to lose her mom.

After taking a deep breath, Nia slowly opens the door to the room, before stepping inside, with the door opening up inwards. As soon as Nia steps inside the room, she sees a single bed in the corner of it, which clearly has a person on it, covered in blankets, rugs on the floor, and a ceiling to floor bookcase on one side of the room. However, before Nia can take anymore in, suddenly she feels someone tackle her from the side, causing them both to go crashing to the ground.

"I'm not letting you hold us anymore!" A familiar voice, to Nia, yells, and then begins to try and fight Nia on the ground.

Nia quickly rolls over, and as she does the other person tries to grab for her arms, but this is when the two come face to face for the first time. Nia comes face to face with her sister, Maeve for the first time in months.

"Maeve, it's me!" Nia yells, and stops struggling.

Maeve now finally looks Nia in the eyes, and stops trying to fight the young reporter.

"Ni..... Nia?" Maeve asks, with a confused expression on her face.

"Yes, it's me." Nia says.

"But.... how did you...." Maeve begins.

Maeve is then interrupted by the door to the room swinging open again and Supergirl and Vivienne coming rushing into the room.

"Supergirl?" Maeve now says, as she turns to look at Kara, "How are you.... I.... I don't understand."

"I came to save you and mom, Maeve." Nia says, in a soft voice, "Why you both have been gone.... I.... I have made some friends. Supergirl.... she's a friend of mine.... and was willing to come with me today."

Maeve now just has a shocked look on her face after Nia says this to her, clearly just taking everything in.

"Nia, we really can't be here long. We had some trouble with those guards, other members of Leviathan will likely be alerted soon." Kara says.

"That is true." Vivienne says, with a nod of her head.

"Okay." Nia nods.

Maeve now finally gets off of Nia, and stands up, holding out a hand for Nia to take, to help her sister up.

"I still don't understand how...." Maeve begins.

"I'll explain when we are out of here. When we have time. For now, we just need to go. Is mom able to walk?" Nia asks, as she slowly walks over to the bed.

"Nia...." Maeve now says, growing a sympathetic look on her face, and placing a hand on Nia's chest, stopping the young reporter from walking closer to her mom.

"What?" Nia asks, in a confused voice.

"Mom.... she.... she is not well..... I..... I don't know if we can move her..... I..... I don't know how much longer she has." Maeve says.

"What... what...." Nia says, now growing a very upset look on her face, hearing the news that she was really hoping that she wouldn't hear.

Maeve now removes her arm from Nia's chest, and allows her sister to walk closer to the bed, to see their mom. Meanwhile, Kara and Vivienne just stand by the doorway of the room, both recognising that they need to give Nia a moment alone with her mother, as by the sounds of things, Nia's mom isn't going to make it out with them.
