A Leap of Faith (Part 2)

Chapter 340 - Alura Tries New Food

Lillian and Ruby are now returning to The Tower, along with the food that they ordered at Big Belly Burger, including all the burgers they ordered, plus a bunch of drinks, including a few milkshakes, as Lillian could see that Ruby's eyes lit up at one of the new chocolate strawberry milkshakes which she saw on the menu. Since Lillian and Ruby had their little talk at the park, it seems like Ruby has been in a much happier mood, and has remained closer to Lillian, physically, which has just put a happy smile on Lillian's face. Lillian knows she already has 3 grandchildren, with there being a fourth one, Alexander, who will be born in the future, but Lillian is more than happy to be a sort of pseudo grandparent for Ruby. Lillian thinks that it's a bit unfair for Ruby that she gets to witness Alura, Morgan and Lori have 4 grandmothers, who love them to bits, while she only gets to have one, who she also has to share with Alura, Morgan and Lori. This way, at least, Ruby can just have another older person who she knows will be there for her, and cares about her, and she can come to if she ever needs to.

Once Lillian and Ruby enter The Tower, they soon make their way back into the room where they last left Alex and Sam, and once inside they see that Alex is sleeping peacefully on the gurney bed, while Sam is sitting in a chair next to Alex's bed, holding the redhead's hand as she sleeps. It's really just a beautiful sight which shows how much Alex and Sam love each other, and don't want to be apart from one another. That is all of course understandable, considering what they have all been through these last few days, and weeks.

"Hey, mom." Ruby says, as she walks to Sam's side.

Sam now turns and grows a smile on her face upon seeing Ruby and Lillian walking into the room with their food.

"Hey. Did you have a good time with Lillian, getting our food?" Sam asks, with a smile, as she takes Ruby in for a side hug, with her free arm.

"Yeah. I didn't know if you wanted a chicken burger or a beef burger, so we got you both. Lillian thought you might be able to eat both, seeing as you are half human and half kryptonian now." Ruby explains.

"Oh, thank you. That was very thoughtful of you both." Sam says.

"No worries." Lillian says, in a soft voice, as she walks further into the room, and looks at Alex, "How long as she been asleep?"

"Not for long. I think everything is just catching up to her now. I thought it was better to let her sleep, as when she's sleeping she doesn't know about the pain." Sam says.

"Yes, we should let Alex rest and save her food for later. Why don't we just step outside and have our food now, so we can give Alex some peace to sleep in quiet?" Lillian suggests, with a small smile on her face.

Sam now grows a bit of an unsure look on her face, turning back to look at Alex for a bit, before turning to look at Lillian once more.

"I don't know...." Sam says, in an unsure voice, obviously not wanting to leave Alex's side in case anything were to happen.

"Sam, Alex will be fine. You don't need to watch her constantly, even though I understand why you want to." Lillian replies, "It would be better for Alex to just continue to sleep, rather than all of us eating in here, and Alex begin woken up by us eating."

Sam now opens her mouth to say something, but soon stops when Lillian waves at hand at her, gesturing that she has not finished speaking just yet.

"And before you suggest that you will stay in here with Alex and have your food later, while Ruby and I have our food in the living room area of The Tower, you need to eat your food too. It's very important for you to eat, as we are in unknown territory right now. As you are half-human and half-kryptonian you may, or may not, have a kryptonian appetite, and if you do have a kryptonian appetite you need to sustain yourself properly. If you don't you very much risk something bad happening, like you passing out from lack of nutrients or something, and we really don't want that to happen, do we?" Lillian says.
