Back at The Tower, over the last few hours Lillian has been running further tests on Sam, while Alex has just been sleeping, with Ruby watching over her. Lillian and Sam have woken up Alex for a little while, just so Lillian could hook Alex up to a drip, giving the redhead some much needed pain killers for her ribs. Thankfully though, everything else has been going in a positive sign with Alex, the redheads ribs being the only major thing that Alex will need to deal with over these next few weeks, and months, as she continues to heal from being absolutely brutalised by Reign. The more pressing matter for Lillian has now just been looking at Sam, and checking to make sure she is alright. The last thing any of them want is something happening to Sam now, and the CFO turning a corner and becoming ill, or even dying, again. So, Lillian has been very thorough with all the tests she has been running on Sam, which admittedly, has been getting a bit tedious for Sam herself, who just desperately wants to be by Alex and Ruby's side all the time, which is understandable. However, Sam ultimately knows that she too needs to take care of her own health, and not just for her own sake, for the sake of Alex and Ruby, so that she doesn't put her daughter and wife through all of this again, and cause them so much emotional pain. Sam never wants to put her family and friends through that every again. Then, on top of all that, Sam is pretty sure if she became more resistant to Lillian doing all this tests, she would likely not only get an earful from Lillian Luthor herself, but also get a phone call from her best friend, yelling at her for not taking these tests seriously, and focusing on her health. So, while Sam has found all of these continuous tests to be rather tedious, she has just allowed them to happen, not saying a word about them, even if it may be clear to Lillian just how frustrated Sam is getting by all of these constant tests. Lillian hasn't made a comment about it though. Ultimately what Sam has to keep in mind is she knows that Lillian has offered to stay here with herself, Alex and Ruby, just so she can monitor them, giving up her time, which in all reality she could be spending with Kara, Lena, Morgan, Alura and Lori. So, Sam is very grateful that Lillian is willing to do this for them, and doesn't want to moan when Lena's adoptive mom is already doing so much.
For Lillian's side of things, when she has been starting off doing all these tests, she honestly didn't really even know where to begin with things, as after all, it's not like there is a manual to check to see how a human's body is in response to splitting apart from a world killer, and being exposed to large quantities of harun-el, and also basically dying on top of all that, and now having some sort of kryptonian ability, as shown by Sam being able to be recharged by exposure to red sun lamps. So, Lillian has basically had to go about doing all of these tests by conducting a full set of health checks on Sam, to test just about everything, which in all reality is probably something she should do anyway, seeing as Sam basically died the day before. All of these tests have taken Lillian a long time to do, and plan out, and would have been much quicker with a second person to help her, but Lillian didn't want to have to call her daughter, and pull her away from spending some much needed quality time with her daughters, so she has just got about all of these tests on her own, with the time they are taking clearly frustrating Sam. Lillian started off with the basics of doing a blood test, and even before she went to draw some blood from Sam's veins she did wonder if she was going to hit the wall of a normal needle not being able to pierce Sam's skin, because of her kryptonian nature of her body now, however, that was not the case at all. So, upon realising this, once Lillian took a look at the blood and was about to analyse it, she thought that Sam's blood would show up as human, due to the lack of impenetrable skin, but that wasn't the case either. Sam's blood ended up basically looking like Lena's blood when she was transitioning to become a kryptonian from being a human. However, there are some noticeable differences in Sam's blood. Sam's blood doesn't seem to be in any sort of constant flux of change, like Lena's blood and cells were, which were slowly becoming kryptonian. If anything, Sam's blood is actually most similar to Alura's, which Lillian has seen images of previously, half-huma and half kryptonian. The reason for Lillian knowing this is because due to the fact that Alura is her granddaughter, and she loves her so very much, Lillian wanting to look at Alura's blood, and understand everything about her biology, due to knowing about what happened to Alura a few years ago, when she was dying before Lena even met the young girl. So now Lillian can clearly see Sam's blood looks like Alura's, in a fixed state of being half human and half kryptonian. Lillian can't even begin to image what the consequences of that will be.
