A Leap of Faith (Part 2)

Chapter 296 - Clearing the Air with Ruby

Kara and Nia are now back at The Tower, where they have been eating their lunch with the entire group. For most of the lunch though, Nia has basically taken Lori into her arms, and rocked her back and forth, even growing some tears in her eyes every now and then. It is very clear to Kara that Nia is still very much emotional after she told the young reporter that she is one of the godmothers for their newborn daughter. Eventually though, everyone finishes their lunch, with them all being happy and full, while still talking amongst each other. Once this occurs, Kara takes it as the opportunity to pull Nia to the side, so she can speak to her about going with Nia to Leviathan, when the shadow woman, who is clear Morgan's mother, shows up. After all, that is the reason Nia wanted to meet up in the first place. Kara knows that so much has been going on recently, with Lori being born, Reign being captured, Lena leaving for Hawaii, finding out that Morgan's mother is alive, she doesn't want Nia to feel like saving her family, her mother and sister, from Leviathan, is not a priority, because it is. So, Kara takes Nia to the side, with the young woman handing off Lori to Elizabeth, and the two entering a room away from any prying ears.

"Th... thank you again, Kara, for naming me godmother. I.... I really don't have words... She's..... she's just so precious." Nia says.

"I know she is." Kara smiles, widely, "And you don't have to thank us. We know you are an incredible choice for a godmother, and you are always going to take great care of Lori, even if nothing happens to Lena and I, just like you already have done with both Morgan and Alura, who love you to pieces."

"Yeah.... I will.... and I love Morgan and Alura to pieces too." Nia replies.

"That's good to hear." Kara smiles, "But, let's talk about the reason you actually wanted to meet up today."

"Right." Nia nods, "I just.... I wanted to know what you were thinking about..... going to Leviathan.... whenever Morgan's mom shows up. I just.... I don't know what our plan should be.... I.... I don't know."

"Yeah, okay." Kara nods, "Well, I think a lot will depend on what Morgan's mom does, and where she takes us. However, I do think us being stealthy should be our aim. We don't really want to get into a fight with all of Leviathan, while we are in the heart of their base. That could put your mom and sister in even more danger. Plus, I still don't have my powers back yet."

"What?!" Nia says, in an alarmed voice, "You.... you don't have your powers back? But...... you can't come with me then! It would be too dangerous for you!"

"Nia." Kara says, in a firm, but caring voice, "I am coming with you, no powers or not. You are going too, and while you do have powers, it's not like you can control them. So, we would basically be in the same boat. However, just because I don't have my powers, doesn't mean I'm useless. I have spent hundreds of hours learning how to fight, from both J'onn and Alex, all so I don't have to rely on my powers. My hope is that we can go in and out of Leviathan without being noticed, and therefore not needing to fight. But, if we do run into trouble, I am perfectly capable of fighting too."

"Are you sure?" Nia asks, with an unsure look on her face, "I don't want you to needlessly risk your life, just to help me. I know that Lena would absolutely kill me if anything happened to you."

"Nia, I am sure. And you have to remember, we are family. Of course I'm going to help you, and I know that while Lena might not be happy with me going in without my powers, she would still want me to go." Kara says.

"O.... okay." Nia says, with a deep breath, "Hopefully you get some of your powers back before Morgan's mom appears again though, whenever that may be."

"Yeah, hopefully." Kara nods, with a smile, "Now, do you want to stay with us? Me and the girls were going to stay here with Lillian, Elizabeth and Ruby for a little while longer, before heading home and then going swimming, as the girls want to do that in our new pool. You are more than welcome to join us."
