It is now about an hour later, and everyone has been in a very solemn mood over the last hour, since Sam died, saving Alex's life. Of course, Alex has been the most upset out of anyone, as now she is officially a widow. Alex had hope before, and now she just has none. Sam is gone. What has made the whole situation so much worse, is that in this devastation, of Sam being dead, Alex hasn't had either Kara or Lena by her side to comfort her, neither of her sisters. This is simply because ever since Reign escaped, and threw Kara across the room, knocking her unconscious, Kara has just not regained consciousness, and because of that, Lena has remained by her wife's side, setting her up in the DEO medical bay with some yellow sun lamps, the entire time. Therefore, Lena hasn't been able to give Alex any of her attention, to give her some comfort or anything, as she has been far too concerned with her own wife. Luckily though, as she has been doing for the few hours prior to Sam's death, Alura has been the one that has stepped up for Alex, and stayed right by her side, the entire time, giving her support, and comfort. Both Lillian and Nia have also remained by Alex's side, wanting to support her, and just be there for her, even if neither of them have that close a relationship with the redhead DEO agent, they both just know it's the right thing to do, as something truly terrible has happened.
On the Reign side of things, since she escaped from the DEO, and seemed to have slightly different, and more intense powers now, Winn set the other members of the DEO the task to track Reign, and figure out where she is. Winn knows this is an important thing to do, as no one is safe when Reign is out there. Especially if Reign is now out there with new, and improved, powers. However, from what Winn, and the other DEO agents, have been able to track, since leaving the DEO, Reign simply went straight up into the air, going up through the Earth's atmosphere, and then heading out into space. They have absolutely no clue why Reign would be doing this. Although, Winn does think there is a possibility that whatever the harun-el did to Reign, it make have given her more powers, or just more intense powers, but it also could have made her completely insane. Winn hopes that Reign will now die out in space, and they will never have to deal with her again, but deep down in his stomach, Winn knows that that is not true.
Even though over the last hour Lena has been sitting by her wife's side, waiting for her to hopefully wake again, and being worried for Kara's health, this hasn't stopped her replaying everything over in her head. Lena has been thinking everything over, since the very start of her experiments with the harun-el, just to try and figure out if there was anything she and Lillian could have done differently, which may have meant that Sam is alive right now. After all, Alex may be the most devastated one out of everyone, because she has lost her wife, but Lena is devastated too, because Sam was her best friend, and she is the goddaughter to Sam's daughter, Ruby. It truly hurts, so much, for Lena, right now Lena just can't show it, because her first concern is Kara. So, for now, Lena is putting her feelings about Sam's death into little boxes in her mind, and then putting those boxes into other boxes, knowing that she just will have to deal with them later, but not right now. The only problem with this, is Lena still can't help but feel guilty about everything. Lena feels some sort of responsibility for what has happened, and Sam's death, as on one side of thing, Lena did succeed, she actually separated Sam from Reign, and was able to save Sam. However, the part that Lena did truly fail at, was not realising that the harun-el could have an effect on Reign beyond just damaging her kryptonian cells after being exposed. It is clear for everyone to see that the harun-el expose has changed Reign, and changed her powers, making them even more powerful than they were before, and that is clearly shown by how easily the world killer was able to throw Kara across the room, with force, and knock her unconscious, even though moments before, she was very much drained of her powers. So, Lena feels guilt that Sam's death is partly on her hands, because if she had foreseen things, she may have been able to come up with a preventative measure, and stop Reign from gaining these better powers, and thereby causing Sam to have to sacrifice herself to save Alex. Then, on top of all this, Lena is well aware that now that Reign has escaped, and has better powers, even more people's lives are in danger now, meaning that Sam's death may not be the only death that is on her hands. Lena truly is feeling so much guilt for all of this, and she just can't see anything she could have done differently, which for some people may make things better, but for Lena, it makes things so much worse.
