A Leap of Faith (Part 2)

Chapter 285 - Need A Kara!

Lillian is now just arriving at the DEO, and is quickly escorted to the medical room. As Lillian enters, she sees that Kara is laying on one bed, completely unconscious, while Lena is laying on another bed, a few feet away from Kara, seeming to be in a lot of pain from her contractions. Alex is standing by Lena's side, reassuring her, and everything, but Lillian can see that Alex is worried, not because there is a fear to Lena or the baby, but because this is not an ideal situation for everything to happen.

"You've got this Lena." Alex says, in a soothing voice.

Alex, for her part, really does want to hold Lena's hand right now, so the brunette has a hand to squeeze, but seeing as Lena now is basically completely Kryptonian, Alex is worried for her own hand's sake. Alex was there, in the room, when Kara gave birth to Alura, and thankfully nobody was holding Kara's hand that day, because she literally gripped the metal bars either side of her bed, and when she removed her hands, the bars had big dents in them. Alex knows that no human hand could survive going through that.

"NO!!! I NEED KARA!!!!" Lena yells, through her contraction pains.

Lillian now quickly rushes next to Lena.

"Don't worry, Lena. I'm here. I'm here to help." Lillian says, in a voice that is an attempt at being reassuring, not something Lillian is used to doing.

Lena now looks at Lillian, and Lillian can both see that Lena is in a lot of pain, and that the brunette has tears in her eyes.

"I need Kara..... please...." Lena says, in an almost begging voice.

"Lena, Kara is unconscious, and it's not like we can wake her up. Then, even if we do, we don't know how stable she will be." Alex says.

"Please.... this is our baby...." Lena sobs.

In this moment, Lena really isn't thinking completely clearly, because this moment is so full of emotions and everything. If Lena was thinking completely clearly she might tough it out, and accept that Kara isn't going to be by her side, to support her, and reassure her, as she gives birth, and will miss the birth of their third daughter. However, Lena isn't thinking completely logically right now. Giving birth is a very emotional moment after all.

"How about..... I'll work on Kara, Alex, while you stay with Lena." Lillian says, "I'll.... see if I can do something.... so at least she will be awake..... and we can wheel the bed next to Lena's, at the very least."

Alex sighs once Lillian says this, as she thinks it's a long shot, but she also knows that Kara will be so upset if she misses the birth of Lori.

"Okay." Alex says, "You can give it a try. I'd recommend you try out the technique Alexander told us about."

"What's that?" Lillian asks, curiously.

"Blast Kara with red sun lamps for a few seconds, before quickly swapping to yellow sun lamps. Alexander says the red sun lamps sort of act like moisture for clay, before the yellow sun lamps are turned on." Alex explains.

"Hmmm... Interesting. I'll give it a try." Lillian says.

Lillian then briskly heads over to Kara, and begins working on the Kryptonian, just trying to make the blonde concious, to be there for Lena. Of course, as Lillian does this, a thought does pop through her head how over a year ago, if she told herself she would be doing this, she would have thought she'd gone mad. Helping an alien. Helping Supergirl at that, ridiculous. But here Lillian is. So much has changed for Lillian in only a relatively short period of time, and Lillian couldn't be happier. Before, Lillian was clinging to this idea that her son, Lex, was perfect, and could do nothing wrong, and her family was with him. Now though, Lillian finally sees what a true family is. Lillian now has a daughter in Lena, despite the fact Lena could have just told her to fuck off, and never spoke to her again after everything she did to her. Lillian now has grandchildren, who she loves so very much, even though none of them are related to her. Then, on top of all that, Lillian also has some friends, with her most notable friend being Elizabeth, simply because of how much time they have spent together. Lillian had none of that before. Her life has improved so very much.
