Lillian and Ruby have now left The Tower to give Alex and Sam some alone time, and to also go and get all of them some Big Belly Burgers for dinner. Plus, on top of that, Lillian and Ruby are just using this time to actually stretch their legs, which is important for both of them, Ruby because she is a young teenager, and really shouldn't be sitting inside doing nothing, and not moving much for days on end, and Lillian because after all the rehab she did to actually be able to walk again, she needs to make sure she keeps moving and walking every day, so that she doesn't go backwards, and have trouble moving and walking in the future, or experience any pains. So really this is just a win-win for both Lillian and Ruby. The Big Belly Burger is only about a 5 block walk from The Tower, so there and back Lillian and Ruby will end up walking around a mile, which is a good amount of stretch their legs, but not too much so that they will be absolutely exhausted when they get back to The Tower.
Right now, Lillian and Ruby are walking side by side, not saying anything to one another, just being happy to quietly continue their walk towards Big Belly Burger. This is actually one of the few times when Lillian and Ruby have been alone together, as in all honesty it has not happened often. After all, Lillian really is not Ruby's grandma or anything. Unlikely Morgan, Alura and Lori, who now have 4 grandmas in Lillian, Eliza, Elizabeth and Alura, Ruby only has the one grandma in Eliza, all the rest are just sort of grandma-adjacent because of how much time Ruby has been spending with all of them, particularly these last few weeks, after Reign took over Sam's body, and Ruby was absolutely devastated. Through that time though, Lillian watched Ruby, and she really sympathised with the girl, her heart hurt for how much Ruby was hurting, and in pain, thinking that her birth mom was dead, and she was never going to be able to see her again. That feeling for Ruby really made Lillian realise just how much she has changed over this past year and a bit, as previously she would not have been like this at all. Previously Lillian would have had no empathy for anyone other than her darling Lex, but Lillian is so happy she has moved beyond that, and grown as a person. Lillian has gained so much from changing, and becoming a better person, including 3 absolutely adorable grandchildren, who she loves so much, and would do absolutely anything for, even if she is not related to them by blood at all. That caring feeling Lillian feels for Morgan, Alura and Lori, also now extends to Ruby too, just because of how much she has seen what a beautiful girl Ruby is, including how well she gets on with Morgan and Alura, despite the age gape between them. So, over these last few weeks, even though Lillian really hasn't spent much time with Ruby alone, she has felt a connection with the teenager, a sort of bond that is starting to form.
"So, Ruby, what are you planning to get at Big Belly Burger?" Lillian asks, deciding to start a conversation with the teenager.
"I like the Bacon cheeseburger. That one is my favourite." Ruby says, with a wide smile.
"Ah, I see. I believe that is Lena, Alura, Kara and Morgan's favourite order choice too." Lillian comments.
"Yes. That's because it's the best choice!" Ruby says, with a happy smile on her face.Lillian can't help but chuckle at Ruby saying that, so happy to see how much Ruby's mood has improved compared to how it was these last few weeks when the teenager was in so much emotional pain from thinking she may have permanently lost her birth mom.
"Okay. Perhaps I will have to give that one a try." Lillian comments.
"Don't you have a regular order too?" Ruby asks, curiously.
"No." Lillian says, "I never really order fast food or anything. It's not been something I have ever done. It's only really been a more recent addition to my life, due to me spending time with all of you, including Kara, Lena, and the girls."
