A Leap of Faith (Part 2)

Chapter 281 - Fixing the Cell

Kara and J'onn are both standing near the entrance area of The Tower, with J'onn working on the computer system in the Tower, just waiting for Reign to appear, if she does in fact appear today. Reign's presence is soon confirmed, but not by anything that J'onn is able to get up on the computer. Reign's presence is confirmed by a woman screaming in fear, with the screams raising high in the air.

"Reign has someone!" Kara quickly says.

Kara rushes towards the balcony of The Tower, and J'onn follows close behind her. Just as Kara is about to take off though, J'onn holds her shoulder.

"Let me save the woman." J'onn says, "Reign is drawing you in with this. Don't you see?"

Kara looks at J'onn, in his eyes, for a few seconds, before nodding her head in agreement. J'onn then goes launching up in the air, heading in the direction of the scream, while also shapeshifting so it looks like Supergirl. J'onn doesn't think that this will fool Reign for long, but hopefully enough to allow Kara to get the jump on her.

A few moments later, J'onn spots the woman going falling to the ground, screaming, and quickly flies towards her, taking her in his arms. As J'onn does this, Reign looks on at him, with a glare on her face.

"I knew you couldn't resist saving a pathetic human." Reign says, "They were the bait, and now you are the lamb led to slaughter, as humans say."

Reign now goes charging at J'onn, who is still holding the woman. Right now J'onn is pretty helpless, as he really can't put up much of a defense while he holds this woman in his arms, and he knows that was the whole point of Reign doing this. However, just as Reign is only a few metres away from colliding with J'onn, out from the side comes Kara, who tackles Reign in the air, sending her flying.

"Good job." J'onn nods, shapeshifting into his Martian form, "Now go get her! And remember, try and keep the fight in the air, as long as possible."

Kara nods her head again, and goes flying in the direction of where Reign went. Kara soon finds Reign, who has gone crashing into a construction site, destroying part of the metal frame for the future building. Luckily, there is no one around to be hurt or anything. Kara, for her part, just lands calmly on the ground, with Reign throwing off some of the metal girders which ended up on top of her.

"HOW?!" Reign shouts.

Kara scoffs.

"Did all that knowledge, of you hiding in Sam for so long, not translate? Are you unable to use what you learnt, are you that much of a fool?" Kara smirks, purposely taunting Reign, "The answer, is shapeshifting."

Reign now grows an angry glare on her face.

"Well, you have used that trick once. You won't be able to use it again." Reign smirks, "Too bad for you, as now you won't be able to use that to escape me."

"I have no intention of escaping you." Kara replies.

"Then you are here to die." Reign smirks.

Kara now goes charging, in flight, towards Reign, and tackles her again, surprising her fellow Kryptonian. Kara then launches Reign up into the air, rather than parallel to the ground, remembering that she needs to keep this fight in the air as long as possible, because Reign's flight abilities are not as good as hers. Kara then flies up after Reign, not wanting to give the worldkiller any chance to recover from this. Kara knows, from her training that she has done with J'onn over these last few days, that she needs to keep focused, and not make any mistakes. Kara is well aware that Reign is likely a superior fighter than her, even if that is only because Reign has had those fighting skills embedded in her brain, which doesn't really seem fair to Kara. None the less, Kara has to stay focused. She has to continue to plan her attacks, and just hope that J'onn can get back to her in time and help with the fight. Admittedly, Kara is a bit concerned that now that she and J'onn have been separated a bit that the martian just won't be able to track her and Reign down again. They didn't really talk about what to do, or what happens, if they get separated. It makes Kara worry that perhaps she and J'onn haven't prepared for this fight as well as they should have. None the less, Kara knows she needs to continue on. Kara knows she needs to muster whatever abilities, training, and powers she has, to defeat Reign, not only for Sam, but also for everyone on this planet, as Kara knows Reign will continue to be a threat to everyone if she is not defeated now.
