A Leap of Faith (Part 2)

Chapter 320 - Alura Tests!

Over the last hour and a bit, Lillian and Lena have run various tests on little bits of harun-el, with rather interesting results, or more precisely, not very interesting results. This is because so far the only thing that seems to have had any effect on the harun-el is when Lena picked it up, briefly, nothing else seems to have effected the black rock at all, or been effected by the black rock. To many this might seem like a bunch of useless data, but not to Lillian and Lena. Even though the mother and daughter have not found things that effect, or are affected by, the harun-el, they both understand that even in finding negative results, that is progress. Neither of these women are going to give up after a few negative results like these. Plus, seeing as they already know that the harun-el is able to affect kryptonians in the way it did to Lena, they basically began their testing on a high not already. However, due to finding that out, Lillian has had to be the one that has run most of the tests on the harun-el. Since Lena touched it with her bare skin, both women have decided to put gloves on, but even when Lena touched the harun-el briefly, just to test things, through the gloves, she could still feel the pain. So, both women decided it would be best for Lena to not touch the black rock at all, even through the gloves, the last thing they need is for Lena to get hurt in this instance.

"Well, those results may not have given us a lot of data to go on, but even negative data, is still data." Lillian says.

"Yes...... and usually I would be okay with that." Lena says, "But, right now, we don't really have time on our side. We are on the clock. Kara is currently keeping Reign at bay. Kara is Reign's warden right now, and the longer that remains to be true, the higher chance it is that Reign will slowly regain more of her powers, and my wife will be more in danger."

"Yes, I understand, Lena." Lillian says, with a sympathetic look on her face.

Lillian may not be one that is absolutely excellent with emotions, or reading people's deep emotional state, specifically in regards to love. However, Lillian has known, for the longest time, just how much Lena loves Kara. So, over these last few hours, Lena may have been doing a good job to hide her emotions, and hide the fact that she is constantly thinking about Kara, and worrying about her, but Lillian was able to see through that.

"I think..... we need to do something..... more drastic." Lena says, after a moments silence.

"What do you suggest?" Lillian asks, with a curious look on her face.

"Well..... I think we should...." Lena begins.

Lillian now gets a look of realisation on her face, realising where Lena is going with this.

"No, way. I won't allow it." Lillian quickly says, cutting Lena off.

"You don't even know what I was going to say!" Lena exclaims.

"You were going to suggest that we run tests on you, while you touch the harun-el!" Lillian counters.

"I....... yes..... fine.... I was." Lena says, with a huff, "But that's the only thing that has yielded us results at the moment!"

"I know it has! But you and I both know that a scientist who is running tests on themselves to try and progress things has gone too far!" Lillian says.

"Yes! But this is different! We are on the clock right now! The longer this takes, the more danger Kara is in. And frankly, this situation isn't the same as those other scientists who test on themselves. We know that it's not like we could do a research control group, and find other kryptonians to test this on. The only kryptonians who we can possibly test this on are myself, Clark, Kara, Reign, or Alura and Lori. But there is no way in yell I'm putting my children under these tests, then Clark is currently still unconscious in the other side of The Tower, from the last I heard, and Kara and Reign are in the middle of fighting each other! So, that just leaves me!" Lena says.
