A Leap of Faith (Part 2)

Chapter 297 - Missing Lena

It is now the next day, and Kara, Alura, Morgan, Lori and Eliza have all progressed with their day so far, got ready and had their breakfast and everything. Today specifically Kara has very much noticed how both Morgan and Alura have very much seemed a bit more down in the dumps, obviously missing Lena, with her not being there when they wake up, like she usually is. Then, this problem continued for the girls, because it's not like Kara could just call Lena for the girls to talk to, as with the time difference in Hawaii, it's still the very early hours of the morning, so they will have to wait a little while longer before talking with their momma. As for Lori, she also has been a little fussy today, and has been very resistant in taking the bottle, clearly missing being able to get the milk directly from the source, which Kara does know can be a thing for babies when switching between breast feeding and a bottle. Ultimately, with all this, it has been a rather stressful morning for Kara. Thankfully though, Eliza has truly been an amazing help, without her here Kara honestly isn't sure if she would be able to deal with it all. Kara knows she is truly lucky that Eliza dropped everything just to stay here with them after Lori's birth, and now with Lena being away for who knows how long. That latter thought really disappoints Kara, because she misses her wife too, so much. Kara hates going to bed by herself. Previously, before she met Lena, Kara always used to cherish having her own bed to herself, where she could stretch out, and not worry about accidentally using her powers in her sleep and hurting someone. However, ever since she has been with Lena, she has loved to snuggle with her wife more than anything, and at the same time, Kara doesn't have to worry about her powers going out of control, because snuggling with Lena calms Kara, meaning her powers don't act out. So, sleeping in a cold bed, alone, for the first time in a long time, is really not something Kara enjoys at all. She can't wait for it to be over.

Presently, Kara, Morgan, Alura, Lori and Eliza have progressed so far with their day that they are once again just arriving at The Tower. Today Kara does intend to actually go into work at CatCo for a little while, even if it is not for the entire day. Kara just doesn't want her co-workers thinking she is taking more time off than the rest of them, and is allowed to do that because she is able to take advantage of the fact that her wife owns the company, therefore she can't get into trouble. Kara thinks that at least she wants to spend a few hours in CatCo, to attend some meetings, and discuss some articles than can be written so for the next few days she can actually justifiably work from home, and not have to go into CatCo, making things easier for just about everyone, particularly Morgan and Alura if Lena is going to still be away over these next few days. Technically though, Kara does know that she could actually be on maternity leave seeing as Lori was just born, and that is actually being given as the official reason for Lena's lack of presence at L-Corp over the last few days. However, Kara is well aware that with Lena being unavailable, and Sam just not "being around" right now, it has basically been mostly left up to Jess to run both CatCo and L-Corp, with some assistance from Lena's assistant Eve. Jess obviously is already the person that runs the day-to-day of CatCo, but now she has been having to go back and forth between the two companies, which is a lot for her, even if she does understand the reasons for it. Jess has been getting all her information from Winn, who she very much still is in a loving relationship with. So, because of all that, Kara also wants to head into CatCo to at least take a few things off Jess' plate for a little while, even if she doesn't want to leave the girls.

Once the group step into The Tower, they quickly make their way to the living room area, where they find Lillian and Elizabeth sitting on the couches together, with both of their faces lighting up as soon as they see them. In response, both Morgan and Alura go running over to their grandmas, and take them in for big hugs, being very excited to see them, almost as if they haven't seen them in a few weeks, rather than having just seen them yesterday. Kara thinks this reaction from Morgan and Alura is probably because they are missing Lena, so need to direct their extra affection at other people, which includes Lillian and Elizabeth. This has probably been added to by the fact that so far today Kara hasn't actually been able to get a hold of Lena, for the girls to talk to. Eliza has assured Kara though that if she isn't able to speak to Lena before she has to leave for work, she will try and call Lena herself, and let Morgan and Alura speak to Lena, whenever the brunette is actually available.
