A Leap of Faith (Part 2)

Chapter 393 - Kandor

Lena is now entering the medical bay, which Alex, Sam and Ruby are currently inside of, with Alex sitting up in her bed, rather than laying down. Seeing this does make Lena a little nervous, as even though, apparently, Alex has healed, a lot, Lena would rather Alex still take things easy, and just continue to act as if she isn't healed. After all, being cautious in this situation is much better than going full steam ahead, thinking that you know something about your body, when it has not been confirmed yet. However, Lena soon shakes these thoughts away from her head, as she doesn't think Alex will appreciate her coming straight into this room and then chastising her for sitting up in the bed, instead of laying down.

"Okay Alex." Lena says, as she approaches her redheaded siter-in-law, "Sam is telling me that your bruises have visibly healed, and you are claiming you are no longer in any pain, or discomfort. Is that about right?"

"Yeah." Alex nods, "I know it sounds insane. And I know that Sam and Ruby, and probably you, kind of don't trust that I'm telling the truth when I say I'm not in any pain any longer, but it's the truth. I.... I think it must have something to do with me becoming a kryptonian."

"Yes, that's what Sam suggested, and that's what I think too. However, like I said to Sam, you getting these sorts of powers from being a kryptonian this quickly does not follow the timeline that it happened for me. Of course, everyone is different, and I assume that different human's bodies may react differently to becoming kryptonian, not that we want to test it by our wives being with other people. But.... what I am saying.... is that even though you are not following the same pattern I did, it is possible that this is all within the normal parameters of you becoming a kryptonian. That said, and you are not going to like this part, but that said, we will be running multiple tests on you now, for various things. I firstly will need to confirm for myself that you have actually healed, both by examining your body, and I'll likely do a scan to, to check your broken ribs. Then after that I'll ask you to move in certain ways, just to make sure you don't get any pain from being in certain position. Then once all of that is done, we will finish by doing another blood test on you." Lena says.

"I don't see how a blood test is that important right now." Alex says.

"Then you are a worse doctor than I." Lena counters, "We need to do another blood test on you, as if everything you said is true, then that means that you are gaining kryptonian powers faster than I did, suggesting you may be becoming a kryptonian on the DNA level faster than I did. So I will want to do the blood test to confirm that, not only as an act of confirmation, but if you continue to progress this fast, you could be a full kryptonian within weeks, rather than months, and that will come with your own set of issues, most notably, how to control your powers."

"I..... okay..... I guess you are right. Thank you, Lena." Alex says.

"Of course." Lena nods, "Now, Sam, Ruby, could you just step outside for a few minutes while I have Alex remove some of her clothes, and then I'll examine her body. I know that, Sam, you have seen Alex's body many times, but I'm not sure this is something Ruby would want to see, and I don't really want to kick Ruby out on her own. Plus, this will give me the opportunity to ask Alex some questions, without her having to worry about the two of you overhearing."

"You do know I am sitting right here, right? I can hear you?" Alex counters, with a pout.

Lena ignores Alex, and just continues to look at Sam and Ruby.

"Yes, okay. That seems fair enough." Sam soon nods, "Come on, Ruby, let's give mom and Lena some privacy."

"Alright." Ruby nods herself, "Be good for aunt Lena, mom."

"Hey! I'm the adult here!" Alex pouts, playfully.

Ruby and Sam now exit the medical bay, leaving Lena and Alex alone.
