A Leap of Faith (Part 2)

Chapter 391 - Beginning the Tests

Reign and the hookers have now made it out to the desert, where all of the remaining 'working girls' have very nervous looks on their faces, apart from Candy that is. Candy seems to only be able to look at Reign with utter awe, and does whatever she says. Reign wants that to be the case for all these other girls, but she knows that unlike with Candy, it will take time to get them all there. Presently, they are several miles out in the desert, truly in the middle of nowhere. A place where they won't be disturbed, and at the same time, neither of these bodies will be found for a very long time, if not forever. So, Reign soon parks the car she drove them all in, and tells all the girls to get out, which they do.

"I understand all of you are nervous." Reign begins, "I understand that you don't like what I'm going to tell you to do. However, I promise you, from here, things will get better for you. All of you. I will be the one that protects each of you. I will make your lives better. You will be taken under my wing, and care. I will turn you into strong women, who no one will mess with. Women who do not need to rely on using their bodies for sex to get by. Put your trust in me, and you will be rewarded tenfold. And that rewarding nature will start today, just as soon as we are done here."

The women now just look at each other nervously, before finally just nodding their heads at Reign, with most of them knowing that there isn't really anything they can do right now, even if they want to, as the best case scenario of them refusing to follow Reign is that Reign will just leave them here in the desert, which they will likely die from, due to how hot it is, and how long it would take them to get back to civilisation. Then, the worst case scenario is that Reign will simply kill them, just like Mrs Crabtree and Sarah, and their bodies will be buried here too.

"Good. Now, let's begin digging." Reign smirks, "The sooner we get this done, the sooner we can leave, where I will treat all of you girls to a day in a beauty salon, where we will all get makeovers, and be pampered, preparing us for our new lives."

Upon hearing this, the girl's eyes seem to light up a little bit, clearly being intrigued at the possibility of getting to go to a beauty salon and be pampered, and not have to pay for it themselves. Reign notices these brief looks from these women, and she knows that is one of her first steps in to getting these women to be completely loyal to her.

In National City, Kara, Lena and Lillian are arriving at The Tower, just the three of them today. Kara and Lena have decided to leave Alura and Morgan at home because given the experiments that they are going to be doing at The Tower today, they don't really want Alura and Morgan anywhere near them, even if they have put several safety measures in place, so that everything should be secure. It's just one of those things where Kara and Lena are going to be very overprotective of their daughters. After all, the duo would hate it even if one of their daughter's ended up getting a tiny little paper cut, let alone something more. Kara and Lena definitely don't want anything, even as tiny as a paper cut, to happen to their girls, so they have been left in the safe care of Alura, the older, and Elizabeth today. Of course, seeing as Alura and Elizabeth will also be looking after Lori, Lena and Kara do not want to take advantage of their birth moms that much, lumbering them with 3 young girls all day long, when there is only 2 of them, so Kara has said that she will fly back to their home at several moments throughout the day, just to check on the girls, and see how things are going with Alura and Elizabeth. Plus, in the times where Kara goes home for a while, she can also give Alura and Elizabeth a bit of a break for a while, if they need it. Kara and Lena believe this is the ideal solution, as in reality Lena is a little bit nervous about Kara being here, seeing as they are going to be making different types of kryptonite, which could affect Kara. Obviously seeing as Alex, Sam and herself are basically kryptonian, part kryptonian, or on their ways to being kryptonian, Lena is aware of the dangers these experiments pose to them, but it is different for them compared with Kara. If they do succeed in making gold kryptonite the last thing Lena would want to do is for Kara to accidentally lose her powers, due to an accidental exposure or something, whereas if she, Alex or Sam were exposed, of course it might be sad that they would potentially lose their powers, but it would have much of a smaller impact on them, as they have each only been like this for a short time, whereas Kara has had her powers for years, and it's very much a part of who she is. Lena, Sam and Alex losing any potential powers would be disappointing for all of them, but for Kara it would be like losing a limb, and utterly devastating. So, because of this, Lena is glad that Kara will not be at The Tower for the entirety of today, and all of the experiments. Then, if the worst should happen, Lena knows that if Kara is at home with the girls she could just call Kara, and she will arrive at The Tower within a few moments. However, Lena is hopeful that with Lillian, Eliza, Winn and J'onn all working together directly in the lab, with her offering assistance outside the lab from a safe distance, everything should go okay, with no nasty surprises or accidents or anything. That is what all scientists hope for after all, when running any experiment, and Lena is no different in this regard.
