A Leap of Faith (Part 2)

Chapter 313 - Attacking Reign's Cell

Back on Earth, J'onn is now fighting various Leviathan agents who have rushed into the room holding Reign. Throughout the fighting so far, J'onn has been staying where he is, wanting to protect Reign, and making this hard decision. J'onn absolutely hates doing this, because he knows that from this attack some of his DEO agents are getting hurt, or perhaps even killed, and he could go out and help them. Ultimately though, J'onn knows the more dangerous thing overall, is if Reign were to get out of her cell. If that were to happen, even more DEO agents would be hurt and killed than by this attack right now. So, as J'onn has been hearing the fighting happening over the last couple of minutes, he has just been preparing himself, patiently waiting for Leviathan to enter, and knowing he is going to have a fight on his hand. J'onn remembers, very well, the speciality arrows that Leviathan shot at him before, which truly were an awful experience, so he knows he needs to be careful of those. The way J'onn sees it, he is the last line of defence to stop a travesty from happening.

After waiting a couple of minutes, about 7 Leviathan agents all came walking into the room which houses Reign's cell, with Talia, the leader of Leviathan, walking behind them, and not looking like she has a care in the world. Her attention, right away, is drawn to the cell, rather than to J'onn, almost as if she thinks he's nothing to her. Before J'onn could do anything in this moment, all 7 of the Leviathan agents came charging towards him, with the Martian engaging them in a fight. At the same time, Talia just walked past J'onn, and the Leviathan agents, and moved over to the cell, and began typing away, clearly trying to figure out how to disable everything.

So far, J'onn has been able to fight off three of the seven Leviathan agents, with them being unconscious on the floor. It has taken J'onn a couple of minutes to do this, because this fight has been a bit difficult, simply due to the number of Leviathan agents involved. Then, at the same time, it's not like these Leviathan agents are normal humans either, most of them have some sort of increased strength, or other abilities, which are making things more challenging for J'onn. J'onn has had to spend a lot of the time using his phasing ability just to get out of the way of all of their attacks, and then waiting for an openly, which he has been taking. J'onn is making slow, but steady, progress, and he knows if he continues like this he will eventually pick off every Leviathan agent he's currently fighting, one at a time. The only problem with this, is it is giving Talia all the time in the world to try and figure out how to disable Reign's cell.

Due to everything that is going on right now, and Talia being allowed time to try and release Reign, in a stupid attempt to think she can kill her, J'onn knows he needs to do something. So, after phasing through another few Leviathan agents, J'onn focuses his mind, and mentally attacks all the Leviathan agents, including Talia. Talia, for her part, is completely unaffected by this, which really surprises J'onn, as last time he was at least able to affect her. All the other Leviathan agents though, now yell out in pain, and buckle to the floor, continuing to groan as they do. What J'onn did to them is a pretty nasty mental trick, essentially the equivalent of giving them all a very strong migraine, while at the same time tricking their bodies to believe they have severe cramp everywhere. It truly works a treat, although J'onn knows that most of them will be recovered from it within the next couple of minutes, so he needs to make his move on Talia now.

J'onn quickly flies over to where Talia is, and as he reaches her, J'onn flings Talia out of the way, causing her to fly a few feet to the side. Once J'onn does this, he quickly glances at the computer system of Reign's cell, which Talia was just typing on, and sees that the cell still looks to be in working order. Admittedly though, J'onn is still not very versed in how the computer systems for this cell works, despite the amount of times Winn has explained it to him. Despite all the Martian tech that J'onn knows quite well, as well as a lot of human engineering tech, computers are still something that J'onn only is moderately skilled on, he certainly could never do anything like coding, or figure out how a computer system functions, which puts him at a disadvantage here. However, J'onn knows, right now, that all that matters is that Reign's cell is still functioning currently, so if he just stops Talia, he will be able to stop Reign's cell from opening, as after he stops her Winn can come in and just make sure all the cell's systems are working. So, J'onn turns his attention back to Talia, and he sees, to his surprise, that Talia didn't crash into one of the walls of the room, after he flung her. Actually what happened, which J'onn didn't see, is as Talia was flung in the air, towards the wall, Talia was able to position her body, losing some of her momentum, and then land feet first on the ground, bending her knees, and skidding backwards, with her back only gently touching the wall as her momentum was gone. Now, Talia has just retrieved the bow from her back, and has cocked it with an arrow, and is aiming it at J'onn.
