A Leap of Faith (Part 2)

Chapter 278 - Lillian and Kara go Shopping

Kara and Lillian have now left the house to head to a nearby store to pick everything up that they will need to make dinner for everyone. This has left Alex, Lena, Ruby, Morgan, Nia, Elizabeth, Alura and J'onn as the ones remaining at Kara and Lena's house. Right now though, Lena has seen that Alex has taken her advice from earlier, and got Ruby to just go out by the pool, and enjoy the cool water. Lena, and everyone else, have just decided to leave Ruby and Alex be, not wanting to upset the teenager further, who has already blown up on Kara out of her upset feelings about her mom. As for J'onn, soon after Kara and Lillian left, he made the decision to head back outside, and just do yet another check of the surrounding area, to make sure everything is secure. Lena knows this isn't really necessary, because of how confident she is in the security system she has installed around the house, at least in terms of notifying her of someone's presence, but Lena also knows J'onn just wants to do something to make himself feel useful. This just leaves Lena and Elizabeth as the ones downstairs in the living room area, seeing as Alura and Morgan are both still upstairs taking their nap, while Nia is still left alone in the room Kara put her in. Lena thinks this might be a nice opportunity, as she honestly has not got to spend much time, alone, with her birth mom.

"How are you doing, Lena?" Elizabeth asks, starting off the conversation.

"I'm okay." Lena replies, as she takes a seat on the couch next to her birth mom, "I'm a little stressed with everything. Obviously this is not an ideal situation for anyone, especially with me being pregnant. But.... I think I can handle it. I have certainly been in much more stressful situations."

"Okay. Well, just remember, if things do get too much, you will need to take care of yourself. Don't forget to take care of yourself like I know you have done in the past. This time, you not taking care of yourself is not some sort of selfless thing, it is selfish, because you are taking care of two right now." Elizabeth says, as she looks at Lena's pregnant belly.

"Yes, you are right." Lena replies, "We.... we have a name for her now."

"Oh? What is it?" Elizabeth asks, curiously.

"Lori." Lena says.

"Lori...." Elizabeth says, repeating the name, seeing how it feels on her tongue, "I like it."

"That's good." Lena smiles.

"How did you and Kara decide on that name?" Elizabeth asks.

"Well, honestly, we didn't really decide on it." Lena admits, "When Alexander was here, he kind of let it slip that Lori is in my belly right now."

"Oh." Elizabeth says, with a chuckle, "Well, I guess that at least solves you of having to figure out a name for your daughter."

"Yeah. I guess so. Did you find it difficult to name me?" Lena asks, curiously.

"Oh, yes actually." Elizabeth says, with a chuckle, "As you know, when I got pregnant with you, I was basically on my own. I did contact your father, but he didn't really have anything to say about it, certainly not suggesting a name or anything. But, I did have a few friends who were suggesting names, and I also went over a bunch of different names all the time. I just wanted you to have the perfect name, which I felt fit you."

"What were some of the names you considered calling me, instead of Lena?" Lena asks.

"Well, for the first few months of my pregnancy I didn't know if you were going to be a boy or a girl. At first, I actually didn't want to know, but after I while I just realise it would be much easier if I knew." Elizabeth explains, "Some of the names I considered if you were a boy was, Finn, Liam and Connor."

"Hmmm..... I can't say that I like any of those names." Lena says, with a bit of a turned up nose.

"Good thing you were born a girl then." Elizabeth says, with a chuckle.
