A Leap of Faith (Part 2)

Chapter 290 - Morning with Lori

For the rest of the afternoon and evening, Kara split her time between being with Eliza, Morgan and Alura, and also checking in on Lori and Lena. Thankfully, Lori has been more than happy to just sleep, without a peep or any crying or anything. Kara knows that that will surely change in the days and weeks to come though. Lena has also been doing much of the same as Lori, just sleeping, and recovering from giving birth today, which she really didn't expect. Of course, Kara herself has had to take things a little slow today, as while the yellow sun lamps have basically healed her completely, she still doesn't have her powers, and kind of just generally aches all over. So, while Kara has been spending time with Morgan, Alura and Eliza, she has sat down near them, allowing Eliza to be the one that mostly keeps the girls attention. Kara is really thankful for this, and is pretty sure her adoptive mom knows that she needs a rest too, after everything that has happened today. Kara just really hopes that she regains her powers within the next few days, as if Morgan's mom appears, and is ready to take Nia to Leviathan to try and save her sister and mother, Kara knows she needs to be ready. She certainly can't have Nia going there by herself, and after what Leviathan was able to do to J'onn on multiple occasions, she wouldn't want him going in her place either.

Eventually, things soon settled down for the night, with Kara saying goodnight to both Morgan and Alura, giving them a big hug and kiss each, and perhaps hugging Morgan a bit more tightly than usual (although not to hurt her). After this, Eliza took the two girls to bed, being the one to make sure they got ready, and were tucked in and everything, allowing Kara to just finally get into bed with Lena and Lori. However, before Kara could finally fall asleep herself, she did have to wake her wife up, because she knew that Lori would need to be fed one more time before they all go to sleep for the evening. Kara is well aware that a Kryptonian, or half-Kryptonian baby will need to be fed more than a normal human baby. Thankfully though, after Kara woke Lena up, the brunette was able to feed Lori rather easily, and quickly, with the newborn taking it very well. Once this was finished, Lena and Kara changed Lori's diaper, and then tucked her into bed, between the two of them, before falling asleep themselves. Kara and Lena both fell asleep almost instantly, being so drained from the day they have had.

It is now the following day, and Kara and Lena have been awake for a couple of hours now. This morning was a rather crazy one for the two mothers, just because they have so many things to do, all of which they need to juggle at the same time. So, to start off the morning, Kara quickly went to a nearby store to pick up a crib for Lori to actually sleep in. Lena didn't come with Kara, Kara just facetimed Lena so her wife could actually see the crib options, and decide on which one to get. Thankfully, this process did end up being rather easy, with Kara being able to buy the crib, put it in her car, and drive it back to their new home. Once Kara returned, the two wives worked together to assemble the crib, which they were able to do in 45 minutes. It obviously should not have taken that long, but Lena seemed to be very firm in not needing to look at the instruction. Lena literally said at one point 'I'm a genius, Kara. If I can build bleeding edge technologies, I'm sure I can assemble a crib, which people have been building for hundreds of years now'. Little did Lena know, she would come to rue saying that, as after about 30 minutes of failing to put the crib together properly, including one occasion where the crib looked complete, but then fell apart, Lena did finally have to give in and read the instructions. Lena and Kara were then able to build the crib, from the instructions, in about 10 minutes, almost from scratch. Lena however wouldn't stop grumbling about how the instructions were stupid, and really the crib could have had much more effective building techniques to make it sturdier. Kara decided to not say anything to her wife after she said that, as she had already spent a good amount of time teasing Lena for eventually needing to use the instructions, despite claiming she's a genius.
