A Leap of Faith (Part 2)

Chapter 347 - Talia's Journal

It is now about 20 minutes later, and Lena has just got back from speaking with Lillian, asking her what she would like for lunch, and sending the Luthor matriarch's order to Kara, via text. Right now, Lena is just sitting back down at the computer, to once more check the process of the satellite, and have another look at the cloud cover that is blocking them over the Mojave dessert. Lena is soon interrupted though by the sound of The Tower elevator doors opening. As Lena looks over at the elevator, she expects to see Kara and Ruby walking through, along with a few bags of clothes for Sam, Ruby, and Alex, as well as with the stuff Kara bought for Ruby at the drug store, as Lena thinks the two should be back anytime now. However, as Lena looks over at the elevator, she sees Winn come walking into The Tower, along with a bunch of devices gathered up into his arms, with some cabling wrapped around some of them.

"Hi, Winn." Lena says, with a brief wave.

"Hi....." Winn says, a bit awkwardly, he steps into The Tower and looks side to side, almost as if he is checking for someone.

Winn doing this causes Lena to grow a confused look on her face, knowing that something must be up.

"Winn, what's the matter?" Lena asks.

"I uhhhh......... I think I need your help....." Winn says, as he puts all the devices and cables down onto the large table in The Tower.

"Help with what, exactly?" Lena asks.

"Sooo..... I kind of messed up." Winn says, "For the last couple of months, I have been having a look at the multiverse communication device that the heroes from the other world gave Kara, as I wanted to try and figure out how it works, so that I could potentially make another copy of it, as a back up, just in case. However, a lot of the engineering aspects of this device are beyond me, so I've had to research various things about it, and how it may work. It has been a long process. Anyway, the long and short of it, is when the DEO was attacked the other day, I'd left the dismantled device on my work table, which must have been shaken in the combat, as all the bits for the device went everywhere, and got mixed up with some other things. Now I don't really know how to put it back together, or if I even found all the components to do so."

"Can't you just use the multiverse teleporter device thing, and simply have Kara go to the other heroes Earth, rather than use this communication device?" Lena asks.

"About that....." Winn says, "I can't remember where I put it..."

Lena rolls her eyes, while shaking her head, at Winn saying that.

"So you are telling me, that unless we can get this communication device working, Kara has no way to contact her friends from the other Earth, until they contact her, or physically come here. Then, because of that, we won't be able to ask Kara's friends about this Lazarus pit?" Lena questions, with a raised eyebrow, in slightly intimidating fashion.

"Uhhh..... yeah..... pretty much." Winn nods.

Lena now sighs.

"Very well. We better get started then." Lena says, now standing up from the chair she was sitting at, and walking over to the table where Winn has laid out all the components.

"Thank you, Lena!" Winn says, in a relieved voice.

"Don't thank me yet." Lena replies, "We still have to actually figure out how to put this all back together, if you have all the right components, and that is a whole challenge in of itself."

"Yeah, and hopefully do all this without telling Kara?" Winn asks, in a hopeful voice.

Lena lets out a dry chuckle at Winn suggesting that.
