Request - part 3 of Good Neighbors were Kacey takes Y/N and the twins to meet his dad and family for the first time a few months after part 2 pls?
"You said you weren't nervous," Kayce said, glancing over at you.
"I'm not nervous," You sighed, eyes staring straight out the window.
"She's nervous," Your twins in the back said together.
"Traitors," You hissed at them.
"We can do this another time?" Kaye offered.
"It's Thanksgiving," You looked at Kayce with wide eyes. "How ridiculous would I look if I said never mind to your father's invite for Thanksgiving? An hour before the meal!"
"Told you she's nervous," June said as she flipped a page in the book she was reading.
Kayce smiled, looking in the rearview mirror at your girls. It had been a few months since the picnic between you and Kayce. The weather had grown cold, and it was time for the holidays to impact every aspect of rural Montana.
John Dutton had thought Thanksgiving was the best time for you and your girls to meet the rest of the Dutton family and have invited y'all over. The three of you had been to the Dutton Ranch before, but Kayce had skillfully dodged any meeting of his family members.
The two of you were very similar in wanting to keep things private between the two of you and your children. It was a delicate balance, which you both had done well at so far. The kids had grown fond of one another, the girls loving Tate probably more than he did at times. But it made your heart happy every time you saw them all together.
And Kayce made you happy.
Somehow the cowboy had charmed his way into your life and heart, almost overnight it seemed at times. You missed him when he wasn't around you. When something happened, good or bad...Kayce was who you wanted to call first. While you might try and deny it, you were falling in love with him.
You just didn't know where he was at in the love part.
You knew he cared for you; he told you in little ways you weren't always sure he picked up on. He knew your order at the diner in town you liked to eat at during lunch. He knew you liked peach ice cream in the summer and warm brownies in the fall and would bring you some when the bakery next to his office downtown had some at the end of the day before he came back.
He would kiss you slowly after a long day of work. He would hold you by the fire when you were stressed out about something out of your control. He knew June's favorite author and that Julie could rope better than most of the wranglers on his ranch.
But was this for the long haul?
"You gonna stare out the window all day?" Kayce asked you and you snapped out of your trance.
You had arrived at the main lodge of the Yellowstone. You had never been inside, seeing as how Kayce lived with Tate in the foreman's cabin. Your girls were already out of the truck, waiting on the front porch for you and Kayce.
"Sorry," You blushed. "Got lost in my thoughts."
"About me?" Kayce smirked.
"You wish," You rolled your eyes and got out of the truck, the two of you meeting your girls and Kayce leading you all inside.
He hung up your coats on hooks by the door and called out for Tate who came around the corner.
"Taterskins!" Julie smiled.
"I said don't call me that," Tate rolled his eyes but let both girls hug him tightly.
"Why not Taterpie?" June smiled.
