Request - Can you do one where Kayce and the reader have a daughter and the reader and their daughter are both sick and Kayce has to take care of them?
You knew you were sick the moment you opened your eyes. Your head was pounding, and your nose so stuffed up you couldn't breathe normally out of it. Rolling over, you glanced and saw you had another ten minutes before Kayce's alarm would go off, meaning your day started as well.
Speaking of Kayce, you snuggled back over into your husband's side, his warmth holding a little bit of relaxation for you. Your nose nuzzled into his neck as you wrapped your hand around his arm.
"Mmm, your fingers are freezing," Kayce mumbled into his pillow.
"Sorr-chew!" Your apology turned into a sneeze.
Kayce opened one eyes and looked over at you. His eyes turned soft, and you knew you must look as sick as you felt.
"You sick?" Kayce asked you.
"No," Your eyes betrayed you as they shut.
You felt his hand brush back your hair from your forehead before he rested it, feeling just how warm you were.
"Uh-huh," Kayce sighed. "You're burning up."
"No, I'm not," You mumbled, leaning into Kayce's touch. "You're burnin' up."
"Okay, baby," Kayce smirked as his alarm started ringing.
He rolled back from you and turned it off, sitting up in bed and rubbing his face. You went to move but felt his hand grab you gently, laying you back down on your pillow.
"Let me get her," Kayce stood up and slowly walked out of the bedroom and down the hall.
A few minutes later you heard the door being pushed open. You opened your eyes and saw Kayce walk in, your daughter in his arms. Her head was tucked into his neck as he smiled over at you.
"You two share more than just looks," Kayce said as he walked over to your side of the bed.
"What's wrong, baby girl?" You asked, reaching up to run your daughters back.
"Don't feel good," Your daughter mumbled.
Kayce pressed a kiss to her forehead and then laid her down into your arms. You let her snuggle into your chest as you ran your fingers through her hair. Kayce leaned his arm over you and sighed.
"I'll call in today," Kayce sighed. "Anything sound good to you right now?"
"Some tea?" You asked him. "Maybe some juice for her?"
"Alright," Kayce nodded, standing up and walking out of the bedroom again.
Your daughter was breathing heavy as she closed her eyes. Her whole body was warm against you as you slowly rubbed her back soothingly. A few minutes later and she was out like a light. You sighed, letting your eyes close some and soon fell asleep too.
You woke up to the shower being on, a warm teacup next to you on the nightstand along with some apple juice for your daughter. You were able to wiggle out from under her and sat up slowly. Your back was sore as you pulled your hair into a ponytail, reaching over and grabbing the cup.
The tea felt good going down the back of your throat as you leaned back against your pillows. You pushed back your daughter's hair, feeling her forehead. It was still warm, but she wasn't sweating like she had been earlier.
"Baby?" You whispered. "Do you want some juice?"
She stirred some, opening her eyes and blinking up at you.
"Daddy brought you some juice," You smiled down at her.
She sat up, leaning against you as you reached over and handed her the juice. She drank it quickly, the coolness probably refreshing to her. Reaching over you turned on the television and flipped it to some cartoons for her to watch. It didn't end up mattering all that much, because a few minutes in and your daughter was asleep against your side.
Kayce walked out of the bathroom in jeans and a black shirt. He smiled at you as he grabbed his marron button down, leaving it open as he walked over to your side of the bed.
"How're you feeling?" He asked you.
"Like a cold or something," You sighed, tilting your head up.
"You wanna get a shower?" Kayce smoothed your hair back. "Open up your chest with the stem at least?"
"Can you watch her?" You nodded to your daughter.
Kayce reached his arms down and under your daughter's body. He picked her up, turning her into his chest. She stirred, wrapping her arms around his neck, as he held her against him.
"Let's go watch TV in the living room, darlin'," Kayce smiled as he walked them both out.
The shower was heavenly for you. You spent more of it just underneath the water, tilting your head up and letting it wash away whatever this was. You scrubbed your skin with lavender soap and made sure to brush your hair out once you were done.
You looked better in the mirror, as you rubbed lotion all over yourself. Changing into some leggings and one of Kayce's shirts, you made your way downstairs to find your two favorites sitting by the fire, your daughter sprawled out across Kayce's chest. Both of them were watching the television, Kayce had some western on.
"Hey," You walked over to them, sitting down and curling into Kayce's side.
"How's that shower?" Kayce looked over at you.
"Feel like a whole new woman," You smiled, even though you were still tired and a little stuffed up.
"Think you could eat something?" Kayce asked.
"Maybe some buttered toast?" You rested your head against his shoulder. "But give me a minute here."
You felt Kayce press a kiss to the top of your head.
"Momma?" Your daughter asked, making you open your eyes. "We both sickie."
"We are, baby," You smiled. "But your daddy is taking good care of us."
"Daddy make toast?" She looked up at Kayce.
"You want cinnamon on yours?" Kayce asked her, chuckling as she nodded her head fast.
Kayce let her roll into you on the couch as he stood up. Your eyes followed him out of the room while your daughter rested against your chest. A little while later, Kayce walked in with a plate of cinnamon toast, cut into triangles.
You looked up at him as your daughter took two pieces. He waited for you to take one.
"We both know you'd have wanted hers if I didn't give you the same," Kayce smirked.
"I love you," You smiled, biting into a piece.
The three of you sat on the couch off and on all day. Kayce took a few calls and made y'all soup for a late lunch. But by supper time came around, your daughter was almost completely fine, and you felt so much better than you had when you woke up.
Your daughter was coloring on the coffee table as you walked into the kitchen to see Kayce marinating some steaks for later. You wrapped your arms around him from behind, pressing a kiss between his shoulder blades.
"Thank you for today," You whispered.
"You've taken care of me plenty of times," Kayce said. "And this ain't been bad."
"Just laying around with us all day?" You laughed, stepping to the side and looking up at Kayce.
"Yeah," Kayce cupped your cheek. "Just being with my girls."
You smiled as he pressed a kiss to your forehead before he walked out to start the grill up.
