Hospital crushes

Request - Y/n is a nurse and meets Kacey after he gets hurt and they fall in love

"Hey, Y/N," the charge nurse called out to you.

You looked over at her after just walking out of helping stick up a kid who sliced his cheek open.

"We've got three GSWs coming in five, can you assist?" She asked you.

"Yeah," You grabbed a fresh pair of gloves and ran out to the ambulance bay.

The next twenty minutes were a blur. Three men came in, cowboys you could tell instantly, and you grabbed the last one. You and the team worked tirelessly to stop his bleeding as IVs were hooked up to him and other rates were checked. They said he had passed out in the way there due to loss of blood.

It took a while, but finally you got him stable. When his heart monitor started beeping regularly, you let out a breath of air. About an hour later you got him back into one of the rooms and quiet.

"Here, Y/N," another nurse handed you the guy's chart.

"Thanks," You opened it up and saw his name was Kayce Dutton.

So this meant the men came from the Dutton Ranch. You had heard stories of that place and knew this hospital had treated many Duttons before.

You filled out the forms and made sure Kayce's new numbers were correct. After placing his chart at the foot of his bed, you looked at the guy.

His face was dirty and you saw some bruising, but he was alive. You looked at the clock and saw your shift ended twenty minutes ago you sighed, knowing you couldn't leave him. So, you walked over and grabbed some cleaning wipes and walked to where Kayce's head was.

Gently, you cleaned him up some. You know he'd still be pretty out of it so you made sure to get as much of his face clean as you could. You turned to toss the wipes away and looked back to see Kayce's eyes open.

"Oh," You jumped slightly. "H-Hi...Mr. Dutton."

Kayce cleared his throat and you saw his eyes move around.

"You're at the hospital," You told him softly and saw his eyes cut back to you. "You were shot...twice, and we've cleaned you up but you're going to have to stay here for a few days of observation."

Kayce took a deep CNB breath but it turned into a large couch. He winced as his chest constricted. Frowning, you reached over and held Kayce's chest. After his coughing fit, you let Kayce lean back against his pillow.

"Easy..." you gave him a small smile. "You're gonna hurt for a while but I can get you another IV and see if we can't make you more comfortable."

Kayce's eyes looked up at you.

"The night nurse is gonna be in here in a few hours," You looked at your watch. "And you can get some more pain medicine then."

Kayce swallowed hard and you reached over for a small cup of water. Handing it to Kayce, his fingers brushed yours. You watched him take a few sips before handing it back to you.

"Think you can rest?" You asked him.

"Others?" Kayce's voice was hoarse.

"What?" You asked.

"The others?" Kayce cleared his throat. "The others...with me."

"They're fine..." You glanced at the door before leaning your head closer to Kayce's. "Both stable and should be good to go home in a few days as well."

Kayce nodded his head. You leaned back up and something in you made you reach up and brush his hair back from his forehead.

"Try and get some sleep," You told him before leaving.
